Many years ago my dad told me "You'll always come back to a .22". As a young soldier I went through the gamut of opinions about the merits and drawbacks of various guns and calibers, and you know what? My old Marlin 60 and single shot shotgun (an SS Kresge 151) do everything I need here in Ohio. Yeah I own some other stuff but I've gotta agree with eskimo about a good .22 rifle just for versatility. The old man was a pretty smart guy after all.

I'm going to have to go with a 9mm or a .40 because of readily available ammo. But wouldn't leave the house without an AK in SHTF time. Just put the stock kit on it so it's collapsible and that cuts down on the scare factor when u don't want to be seen as a threat. Gives you versatility of use and covers your bases.

I'd probably go with my 9mm because of the cheap & plentiful factor.

My .44 Magnum does give me a little bit of a god complex and it would certainly have it's place, but the 9mm holds more rounds and is very reliable. Besides, if I can't knock it down with 16 9mm rounds, the .44 probably wouldn't be doing me any good anyway. :cantlook:
