I'm looking into getting one of a few new pistols. Just wondering if anyone here has any first hand knowledge.

    I'm looking at a:

    Canik tp9
    Armscor m200
    Zastava m88a

And the one I expect more than a few opinions on
    A hi point jhp

I've handled a jhp and the m88a, but I haven't shot any of them. Any opinions?

jhp will run like a champ, and then you can get the carbine also. they share ammo and magazines...

JHP shoots very well, it's one of the top shooting 45 ACP handguns
    I've ever shot, and I have a sweeet 1911 and a Smith & Wesson 457,
plus I have shot a full size Springfield XD or something in 45...

There is lots of input on the Zastava available here, and some have
the Canik also. I know of 2 or 3 Armscor m200 folks here, isn't that
a 38 Special revolver? You will likely get a "buy signal" on all of
these, but the folks here can tell you much more than I can. I did
really like the way my JHPs shot, but I've sold one and the other
might be gone next week too, raising cash for other projects :D
More Ammo, and maybe another 4595 converted to 1911 mags :D

1911s are going to be my ammo and mag share for my HP carbines
    and different mfg's make 9mm and 40 S&W guns in a 1911, so
it is probable to be able to convert ANY HP carbine over to 1911
    mags... I'm Hoping! Better yet, make a 4095 into a 1095 and
run the same drum mag (below) with feed lip tweaks :D ;)

Depending on your wants and needs....
A JHP and 4595 combo or if your budget allows it a RIA 1911 clone and 4595 combo as you can share the mags with the Thingmeister mag catch.
IN any case you can use 15 round 1911 stick mags as well as the drum mag as TM demonstrated recently.

I have the m88a. Its amazing. Ive put probably 700 rnds without a single issue. Fits like a 1911 but slightly smaller. Firing pin block lets you carry cocked and locked. Breakdown is very similar to a 1911. The only reason im considering selling mine is to buy an ATI FX45 compact. But theyre not worth more than a couple hundred used so i may as well leave it in the case. Its currently my everyday carry.

I unfortunately only get a new firearm once a year. My disposable income only allows for one or two as well .

The m 88a tops my list, it justit isn't available anywhere around here. Were they a limited run?

The m200 fills a revolver tick for me. a hi point of revolvers

Nutnfancy said a lot of good things about the canik

I'd love a 1911, but even the ria 1911s cost almost three times what those do. Shops get really proud of 1911s

Thanks for the article on the armscor revolvers, and the reviews on the jcp and the m88a it seems that the tokarev pedigree shines in that

Anyone with hands on with the canik?

And for a real loop how about the cz83?

If you are thinking Canik, you might check out SAR B6P. Cheaper and just as good.

Get the JHP and invest in lots of 45 acp ammo for it. Nothing against Armscor or the others. Just the economics of shooting. Which do you want - lots of guns or lots of ammo? And the JHP is a sweet shooter.

To this day I regret selling my stainless S&W M60 Chiefs Special in .38sp.:(

That M206 looks like it would fit into my budget nicely, but I can't tell yet if they are available here in California. The CA DOJ website is down, so I can't see if it is on the "approved" list for this state.

I'll second the Canik TP9 whether the SF, V2, or SA model. Among the best guns you'll ever see under $400 and they all have excellent triggers. The SA would probably be my last choice of those I just mentioned but mine has been excellent.

It is the best of the options listed because of the quality to cost ratio and I have owned and shot a lot of pistols.
