He is the problem. If its centered on the first shoot every year and subsequent shoots are off. Its him. It happens. I hate shooting the 303. It hurts my shoulder any other gun smaller or bigger I can handle. My wife shoots it all day.
that makes sense, the 7mm mag might be making him flinch a bitHe is the problem. If its centered on the first shoot every year and subsequent shoots are off. Its him. It happens. I hate shooting the 303. It hurts my shoulder any other gun smaller or bigger I can handle. My wife shoots it all day.
He would not be the first.that makes sense, the 7mm mag might be making him flinch a bit
That's 2 MOA. Tell him to just hit the darned deer the first time, and he won't have to worry about the other shots. And if he's scared of the BAR recoil...he needs to send it to me, and get a little 308 or something.maybe you can help me out (actually it would be helping my brother) because his rifle will hit dead nuts on, on the first shot at 200 yards, then the next 2 will be about 4 inches off the mark...he has gone over his scope mounts and stuff, and every year its the same thing, he takes it out shoots the first shot and hits the mark and the next 2 are off by about 4 inches at 200 yards...he loves the rifle and would like to figure this out, my 06 does not do that
Or just let someone else shoot it first. That's 2 MOA. Tell him to just hit the darned deer the first time, and he won't have to worry about the other shots.
Are the 2nd 2 in a group?
Does the rifle do this again after waiting a half hour? Then it's probably heat. If it shoots the 4th, 5th and 6th bullets in a group, after that half hour, then it's the clean barrel on the first round that is the problem.
That's why target shooters use "fouling shots".
If they aren't grouping regardless, he needs to try other ammo, at less distance to eliminate variables.
he target shoots it at the start of the season, and I don't think he shoots more than 3 rounds at a time, and the second 2 shots are not grouped together...It might be heat, or him flinching on the bench...he never needs more than one shot on the deer (for the most part) so its not a big issue, but it always bugged him since he had the rifle. That's 2 MOA.
