Issue with sights

1447 Views 7 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  RACHGIER
I shot my 1095ST for the second time yesterday and something came up. As a side, I had added a Bushnell red-dot and my target was 25 yards out.
I had great difficulty picking up my rear-sight. I could see the red dot from all angles but I became uncertain if I saw it through my rear sight.
As a result my shots were low and right primarily.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so, what was your solution?

Disregard the measurements...this is how the two types of alignment look.

In some cases, the 1/3 third co-witness will actually align the red dot with the sights, since the dot "should" be lined up on target no matter where you put your eye, up to a certain limit.

You have to get your eye up close to a peep or aperture sight, it is NOT a ghost ring sight.

We were taught to put our noses against the charging handle on the M16, that's why many of us older guys dislike the longer A2 stocks. They work for a scope or red dot, but they aren't very good for an aperture sight.
