It has been a bitter sweet week

After finishing the M1 Garand I took a look at the collection, and the projects on the bench. I realized my plate was a little over filled... so I sat down with a 12 pack and did some thinking.

I decided to sell off one of my last SKS's, put my Sten kit on gun broker, and get rid of my extra AR lower so I wouldn't be temped to start another build.
:(
I know I am going to regret parting with the SKS, it was/is a really nice piece.

So, that was the bitter, lets get to the sweet part.

The bent bolt for my functional m91/30 sniper project came back. It looks good, it isn't welded, but will do the job for now. I may have a welder friend of mine make it look just a little more like the originals.
This little garage sale of sorts put some duckets in my back pocket... but it's all gone, and then some :)
The guys at accumounts have their repro mounts, and modern style scope (I didn't want to splurge on the repro scope just yet) in stock. So now I have that on the way, and can get that project off the bench soon.

And why didn't Bubba-Daze want to spend his wad on the repro scope too?

He found an IBM M1 carbine in really good shape for just a touch over what was left in his pocket.

Oh, and I almost forgot.

I had ordered one of the Israeli mauser stocks and handguard from Numrich (the 2nd last one they had), but when the stock showed up it was a banana. :(
However, with some google searches, patients, and the right tools, I have been able to get it to bend back. As of this morning I have the fore end straight, and I am working on the butt end now.
It was one of those life give you lemons, and you make lemon aid deals.

I hope to have pics of these projects up later this week/early next.

All I can say is....Damn you man!!!!!!!

seriously though, I think you did the right thing, it's very hard to part with these guns we collect but sometimes it is needed. I only miss everyone I have gotten rid of for whatever reason but do appreciate the ones that took their place. BTW, how's the T38 you got from me doing? If you ever feel the need to part with it, give me the first shot at it as it is sorely missed here. But at least it went to a good home.

It's still in in my rack. It comes out every now and then. I have collected a little brass, so now I can reload and afford to shoot it. :)

Oh, and check AIM. They have a fresh batch of Westinghouse, Tula, and Finn M91's that I have been drooling over.
