It looked like a rubber chicken coming at me. Now I'm waiting for a tow truck. It's a FMCSA reportable event if I get stopped. 90mi from Nashville in a truck stop.

Definately can’t drive that. You are lucky though, more than once I have seen where a large bird like that comes through the windshield.

Several years ago we had a driver hit an owl. The owl came through the windshield. The driver abandoned the truck because he had an angry and injured owl walking around and posturing inside the truck!

We hit an owl once with a bus late one night on a mountain road. It was flying away from us, and just kept getting bigger and bigger, AND BIGGER until we hit it. Lucky it was just above the windshield, it bent the metal, probably would have come through the glass.

Once I hit a bat driving in the woods in the middle of the night. He got hung up in my windshield wipers. I pulled over to set him free and he was alive but too injured to survive.
You weren't driving away from Hell, Michigan were you? You know... bat out of hell.

At least it was not a bald eagle. It is up to a ridiculous $250,000 fine for killing one of those. If you ever hit a bald eagle in your car do not say anything to anyone.

They called our glass guy. Because of the other damage it has to go to the Freightliner body shop. 330K on that truck. My new to me has 358K. It's a newer truck, smaller engine more gizmos. I lost my storage shelf for my emergency food. The cabinets in this one suck. There is a spot for a fridge. I don't need one. It got pulled out. Probably being stored in the shop.

If you by accident kill a bald eagle do what you want. Enjoy the fine. The law is immoral.

I can't see how it would be a problem if it was an accident.
