Was awakened last night around midnight by the police who informed us that our daughter had been involved in a domestic dispute. Threats had been made against both families, mine and his, as well as the police. They told us the SIL was armed and they had set up a staging area in a parking lot down the road. Asked up to leave with them. The daughter was safe, and was already at the staging area.
I thought it was interesting that they said we did not have to, but they highly advised it. We left following a deputy car with another trailing. Just a couple of minutes later his father arrived the same way, escorted by deputies. The daughter Was being cared for by paramedics. She was not shot, but the gun had been put by her head and fired. She allowed them to take hair because of the powder residue. She denied further treatment than what the paramedics provided.
The SIL went into a dense stand of pines near the house. They tracked him by pinging his phone. He appeared to be moving around in them. They were apprehensive about going in after him because he knew the woods. I cautioned them that the pines were very thick and they could be on him before they ever saw him. Another thing I found interesting was that I overheard that the pings could be off by as much as 600 yards. I thought they would be way more accurate than that.
They had a dog that I figured would send in, but It became unnecessary as about 4 am he came out of the woods and peaceably surrendered.
