This is what Glenn suggests we require any one running for Congress to pledge support if we are to vote for them.

Insanity? No this is one of the sanest things Ive ever read;

To Congress, The 5 Pledges

1. I believe in a balanced budget and therefore will vote for a freeze in government spending until that goal is realized.

2. I believe government should not increase the financial burden on its citizenry during a difficult economic times, therefore I will oppose all tax increases until our economy has rebounded.

3. I believe more than four decades of US dependence on foreign oil is a travesty, therefore I will support an energy plan that calls for immediately increasing usage of all domestic resources including nuclear energy, natural gas and coal as necessary.

4. I believe in the sovereignty and security of our country and therefore will support measures to close our borders except for designated immigration points so we will know who is entering and why. I will vehemently oppose any measure giving another country, the United Nations, or any other entity power over US citizens.

5. I believe the United States of America is the greatest country on earth and therefore will no apologize for policies or actions which have served to free more and feed more people around the world than any other nation on the planet.

In number one, a freeze as in no increase or decrease, or as in no spending at all? No spending at all could NEVER work, and would only make matters much, much worse.

I believe what Beck was refering to was a freeze in that we would maintain spending on current pprograms and freeze spending on all of these new programs that they are coming up with.

The only problem is that all politicans lie. Now if they have to sign and agree to resign if we the voters deem that they have not kept there pledge / promise then OK. They all take a pledge to uphold the Constitution and that means nothing to them. I do NOT trust them, period!

Not all are lying bastards. The ones that are honest,like any one else in difficult situations, need support which we the people have been very remiss in providing. Far too long we have let others do the hard work. Things must change.

Lying evil bastards reveal themselves far too easily for there to be any doubt if you do your homework. No one is perfect and dont look now that includes us and the people we elect, the marvelous thing about our constituon is it works even where people are imperfect. So we need to get off our self centered asses and do it.

You have been wanting a direction, here is a good one so stop your whining and take it.

After over 210 years you still can breathe free air, not possible without some honest people. If all were evil the chains on you would be so heavy there would be no illusion of freedom possible. Now the chains we carry are our own, fear, cynicism, isolation, and hopelessness all are yours to shed. If you insist on continuing in the slavery then so be it. But if you continue those chains will be real, placed there by a nearly all powerful state to remain for some unknown time.

Many reject such self imposed slavery and it is they who may save this republic, I can only claim to be trying to get rid of my own chains so that in some small way help. Sit on the sidelines if you wish since after all its still a free country for a little while.
