@adam01364,

This might be total forum newb ignorance, so please forgive me if that is the case.

I spent some time reading your sns articles and really enjoyed them. I think that they are a really great resource and I was wondering if you could include permanent sticky links for them in the sns section of this forum?

Gents,

Great stuff, thank you. I really enjoy these discussions.

R.e. sns innovation. This is one reason why I've been really rooting for Cobra. To the best of my knowledge their Denali is the first original sns design in a long time.

Thanks for the grip saftey patent material. Very interesting.

On the note of Sundance parts I recently stumbled upon this company. I have never used them and have zero affiliation with them so I hope it's ok to link this here. The company makes new stainless steel and titanium firing pins for damn near everything, including a lot sns pistols, including the Sundance. Made in the usa.

I bought a Raven firing pin from them and the quality seems good. It is a tad tight in some pistols while it fits fine in others. That's an issue with consistency in the Raven slides and not the firing pin. In my own firing pin turning experience, I found it better to edge towards minimum material rather than the other end... even the thickness of the plating on the slides varies enough between examples to make a firing pin stick in one but not another.

Long and short is that Firingpins.com quality is better than OEM in my opinion, but be prepared to chuck it into a drill and take a bit off with wet sandpaper if need be.

I honestly do not own a Sundance, I've been so focused on Ravens that I stupidly neglected some SNS deals when they were available cheaply. Oh well. I can dig the Lady Laser though, these were selling on GB for <$75, but I'm sure they're $1K+ now.

.
Probably right about the Laser model going for stupid prices. Although I found a Sundance A25 for sale on GB with a buy now price of $120, it is gone now though.

I haven't seen many Sundance's for quite awhile now on GB.

Thanks for the heads up with the website. I ordered some Raven firing pins from Delta Team Tactical a while ago, they were on sale. I have not had to use them yet. Actually looks they still have them on sale, for $6.99.

Adam,

My apologies! I bow to your god like sns collection, lol. Seriously cool!

CulperRing,

I dont know how I never stumbled onto that website, thanks! Part hunting now, lol. Appreciate it.

Nope, this guy owns it.

I was looking for something else when I stumbled across them.

Another site to look at is https://everygunpart.com/
Most of their SNS stuff can be expensive but when they run a 50% sale I will grab a kit or two (or more :) ). I believe they are currently doing a 50% of sale, not sure for how long.

I have been looking for a couple of Cobra CA380 slides. I rebuilt a couple of Davis P380 and a couple of weeks ago, I had the infamous P380 slide crack while shooting one. So now I will keep one P380 complete and the others turn into CA380 :)

CulperRIng,

Thanks for heads up on their sale! I've looked their before but was always a little hesitant about some of their prices. This 50 % sale is going to get me in trouble lol.

If your into it, I would love to see some of your rebuilds.

Adam01364,

Psst! Wanna see a Sedco?

But what do you think is worse Sedco's or Clerke First's?
I owned a Clerke First, it came as part of a package gun deal. It's a honest-to-badness piece of $hit. You might get six shot off before the timing goes off and you start getting barrel shavings.

On the other hand, the Sedco is a piece of SNS history, having been in production for the shortest length of time. If you haven't seen this article, there's more on the Sedco here: https://www.hipointfirearmsforums.c...rs-davis-industries-and-sedco-industries.241/

Anyway, I'd take a beat up Sedco over a NIB Clerke First every. single. time.

Adam01364,

Good stuff! Seriously, I dig it and appreciate it. Magizines can always be a problem and I love seeing adaptions and fixes. I admit I'm some what obsessive in having a bunch of mags for anything I own, so I really appreciate the info.

Thank you for the article. SNS history, especially the "Ring of Fire" is very interesting.

I am still pretty new at rebuilding SNS, but I will say I was surprised how easy Raven's and Davis' are to put back to together. I have tried putting either a Jennings 25 or 32 back together and it was somewhat frustrating (still isn't together).

I have not, and am now intrigued.
When I first started arming up again in 2012/13, I decided that I was going to concentrate on the main calibers and have certain rules... 22lr, 9mm, 5.56/.223 for sure. My first new gun was paid for but awaiting the final few parts. It was an AR15 "built" by an Army Ranger. Then... the Sandy Hook school shooting happened. So darn near everything was out of stock overnight. So I developed my rules of prepping for defense.

1. Any new handgun purchases must also be matched with 6+ magazines (total)
2. Rifles/Carbines must have 10+ magazines (if so equipped, total)
3. Any "new" (previously unowned) calibers must be built up to 1,000 rds minimum.
4. New Calibers must be stocked to 1,000 rounds minimum after initial break-ins.
5. "One is None, Two is One, and THREE is a GOOD START!"
(old prepper wisdom with my twist) ;)

That's pretty much it, obviously revolvers and tube fed rifles don't have a magazine rule, and possible exceptions are for instance, I have more than one 22 rifle, the Marlin 795 has less than 10 magazines, because my S&W 15/22 has met the rule. Besides, 22lr is not a battle caliber anyway :p I just try and apply common sense after the basic spirit of the rule is met. My 10mm G-Series platform has the mag rule covered, but my Tanfoglio Witness Hunter is never gonna have the full count of 6, unless I really get to shooting it a LOT and love it. In reality, once I get a caliber and gun combo covered by the rules, the additional guns don't have to all have the extra magazines. Or I can take the rule and use it as a Minimum, for instance, my 9mm stash? Let's just say "I have enough" and I am selling my "vanilla 115gr ball ammo" for a reasonable price, due to the current climate. Cuz I standardized to 9mm NATO a while back ;)

I'm just blessed to be able to have afforded it all :twocents:

Good stuff! I tend to think similarly. Serious guns have lots of spare parts, mags, lights, and anything else they need to keep going. I also like identical spares if possible or something that is functionally identical, i.e glock 19 and glock 26, etc. I view firearms as a system and that gets expensive fast. It's a good thing I dont have two many or I would be homeless, lol.

Fun guns thankfully dont have to meet those requirements, but I'm still obsessive that every gun has a holster or a sling and at least a few mags or speedloaders.
