My apologies if this has been asked before, I couldn't find any mention of it.
Does the lump/bump on the bottom of the trigger guard serve any purpose ?

It almost looks as though it has a recess, like something is supposed to snap on there.
I'd rather have the bottom of the trigger guard smooth, and was going to remove it, but was wondering if it would leave a hole.
Seems that HP wouldn't have gone to the trouble to put them on there if there wasn't some function they provide.

There should be a small horseshoe clip there to hold the stock halves together.
If it's missing, call up Hi-Point and they will send you one for free.

Thanks Adam. My used carbine didn't come with the "tool", so I'll call HP today and see if I can get that and the clip.
