Make A Music Recomendation

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Taurus357, Jan 14, 2008.

  1. With all the music talk, I thought I'd start a thread with music suggestion for others to check out.

    1. Short and simple. Name of band/track, genre, and link to a sample if available.

    2. No debating something that you think sucks. If you like it, quote with a +1.

    3. Goal is somewhere to share some of you favorite music that you think others will like.

    4. Following these guidelines, list as many as you want.

    I'll go first...

    Breaking Benjamin
    "Home" [ame][/ame]

I am a huge Classic Rock fan and am normally not a fan of covers of classic songs by newer bands, but I worked security in front of the stage for a Korn concert and these guys opened for them. I think they did an awesome job with this cover.

    Band: Hellyeah
    Genre: Hard Rock/Metal
    Song: Stone Cold Wasted

While I'm a HUGE punk fan, I do like BrittPop, and have been drawn to the band BlocParty ever since hearing a single of theirs a while ago. Powerful lyrics (that are NOT Emo...thank god they broke the trend) and a truly unique sound which really catches the ear. It's the same kind of difference in sound that attracts me to bands like the White Stripes and the band of "Rage Against The Machine" (minus Zach De la Rocha); They experiment and get the mix right, but change it up JUST enough to keep the art fresh but keep the meaning clear.

I wish they hadn't gone so mainstream. Used to be only German speakers knew what they were saying in their songs. :)
