Spanish/German 1893 7mm, Yugo M48 and a captured K98k...Like 'em a lot.
I shoot a sporterized turk. A fantastic rifle and I love 8mm (except for the price...).

Cheers,
Kyu
I think everyone likes the Mosin so much because they are alot cheaper to buy and shoot!

+1 if I had the $ I would have a mauser, a luger and a c96, but I love the mosins
At one time I owned a K98 and a 24/47 but sold them. :'(
However, I'm the proud owner of this nice M48 BO.

I think the issue is the most expensive mausers are the german marked versions.
If it has all the nazi markings on them the more expensive they are. The russians, yugo's, chec... are less expensive.
Just as good shooters. I still see the yugo's available for under $200. AS mentioned 8mm non corrosive ammo is expensive.

Oops, :-[ this is the Sporterized & Custom Milsurp section and my M48 BO is not sporterized. However, I plan on mounting a scout scope on her, so, I guess that counts.

None of mine are sporterized except my Spanish...and if I could find an old stock, I'd slap it on in a heartbeat... :'(
No one has a problem with your thread till you start mentioning "adding scope".

I would perfer not to add a scope to my mil-surp rifles but with my aging eyes iron sights are practically useless to me.
I prefer the Mauser to the Mosin, always have. Don't get me wrong I love the Mosin too.
I like them both,so I have both.M91/30,M44,and a Yugo M48.
I haven't changed anything on any milsurp but I would like to scope a couple of them,no drilling ,just adding one of the mounts that go where the rear sights are.

Cool, I have a 91/30 an M44 and a Yugo 24/47. I'd like to put a scope on it the way they did originally, I'd get a Smith to do it proper of course! That way I could use either the scope or the iron sights without having to switch back and forth.
