Melted Finish !!!

I recently returned from the range with my C9 and started to clean it before I put it away. I decided to use a new aerosol can of Break Free "Powder Blast" gun cleaner. After spraying out the chamber and around the ejection port I proceeded to wipe the residue off the side. To my absolute horror the black finish stated coming off in my hands!. THE BREAK FREE MELTED OFF THE FINISH/COATING RIGHT OFF THE SIDE!!! Now I have this gummy residue all over may hands and screwed up my C9. Any help!

Im not sure if the warranty will cover that but its worth a shot. Send it to the mother ship for refurbishing.
I'll give it shot and hope for the best!
Holy Crap!!! That's sad news. Lets hope HP will fix it. Pretty sure they will. ;)
This should be a sticky for now.

Don't use this stuff.
:postpics: Please!!!!
Melted Finish Update:

Contacted Hi-Point this afternoon and they will fix at no charge !!! What a GREAT Company! I told them that I did not fault Hi-Point or Break Free, I just wanted to know how much to fix. Their reply ................ just get it here. WOW. I will try to send a pic of the damage. Thanks for the feed back guys.
WOW good to know this before I used this I use a birchwood casey arisol cleaner and never had any problems with it till I grabbed it one day instead of the air blaster and used it to clean a keyboard. needless to say I'm typing on a new keyboard but I've even got it on the rubber grips on my bersa and it didn't do anything... This is like blindsiding me I'd of never thought arisol cleaner could harm powdercoat. Sticky please?
Hi-Point said beware of anything with acetone's in it. I guess I should be reading the warning labels and contents more carfully.
I use Powder Blast and warned someone the other day that the stuff was very efficient at what it does...it cleans to the bare metal...do NOT use it on any finish....it is like oven cleaner or carb cleaner...made for bare metal only!!!
I am glad I just read this! I bought a can of it last night at Wally World, but have not used it yet! Looks like I will be making a return here this evening! Thanks for the warning!!
I guess if someone ever wants to take the finish off a hi point they know how now.

+1 on that. ;)
very weird, i use brake cleaner on all of my guns including polymers and have never had a problem, just don't use on varnish, paint or wood.
