Re: "Cash for clunkers" another agenda scam

Well you could have picked up a junker at the yard for 200.00 dragged it over there got your money and kept your good old wheels and used the money to buy a nice military pattern 308. Thats how we get them....hmmm maybe i will do this after all.
No No No, I believe in the fine print you have to have owned the vehicle for 1 yr. before trading it for C.F.C. $$$$$$

Re: "Cash for clunkers" another agenda scam

There's a lot of silly overreacting here. Let's take a second to remember a few things:
1. This program is only active through November, and I'm willing to bet good money that it will not have a noticeable impact on the used car market as it concerns desirable vehicles.
2. Who drives cheap, gas-guzzling cars worth less than $3,500 and has no business (but wants to) buying a new car? I'm thinking that this group overlaps heavily with Obama's voter base.
3. Not that many cars are eligible to be traded in, in fact the EPA just recently updated a hundred or so cars' rated combined MPG to disqualify them from this program. http://jalopnik.com/5324978/full-list-of-disqualified-cars-under-cash-for-clunkers-refresh

That said, it's still a stupid program and it shouldn't exist. That doesn't mean I don't applaud 47_MasoN_47 for taking advantage of it and getting some of his tax money back. I would too, but our junker car has a rated 19 combined MPG (which is bullsh, but the EPA says what it wants) and is therefore not eligible. Such is life.

Re: "Cash for clunkers" another agenda scam

Wow they blew through a billion of our tax dollars to subsidize more people who probably shouldn't be getting a new car anyway (remember fannie mae?) already? Well hell I'm sure they'll requisition some more ,never fear you'll be rewarded for being irresposible and responsible people who could use the parts to stay out of debt will still get the shaft in the long run I'm sure. Of course they'll point to how "wildly successful" this scam is. Just go out and use that "free money" and keep letting them think they are on the right track. I love how the story says its a pivot point to economic recovery...sure more people going into debt...thats what we need for long term helath of the economy.

Also these are the geniuses who are going to run healthcare who didn't do the simple math to figure out 1 billion dollars spread over 20000 dealerships works out to the neighborhood of 12 cars per dealership. So god help you if they are the same ones allocating healthcare spending.

i wonder how many late model ford explorers we'll be seeing on used car lots in the near future, mysteriously recycled back into the market
I thought they had to scrap the cars after they were traded in...

Yeah between them and Jeep (Chrysler) it's pretty rough.
i never cared for jeep cherokee's, they always felt cheap, like everything inside was gonna break if i hit a bump too hard. i would trade one in in a heartbeat, even for a....*gasp* yaris.
