Sweat's been shot and apprehended this afternoon after his escape buddy took three rounds in the head in what is now called a 'suicide by cop' scenario.

Allegedly Sweat took two .45 rounds to the torso and lived. He was "stopped" though.
Maybe he should have been shot with a magic 9 or the terrible .22 instead.

The .22 is lethal to 1.5 miles, we all know that.
The .45acp is more like less-then-lethal ammo.

    Meh.
Bugs Bunny was right...bullets don't do well against fingers.

A Pinky Finger can apparently make the .45 non-lethal.

"The single, errant bullet struck the son in his pinky-finger, then went on to enter the kid’s abdomen. For a teenager, the kid was big and pudgy, in excess of two-hundred pounds. The round, a 45ACP Winchester Silvertip, is a good, high-performance, defensive pistol round. It penetrated a shirt, an undershirt, and then six inches of fatty abdomen before stopping. It did not exit.

Upon being thus struck, the kid was able to walk, without assistance, out of the range and into our lounge area, where he sat down and quietly waited. Police and EMS arrived within minutes, and the young man was transported to a local hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery, and the only apparent, permanent disability will result from trauma to his finger!

Here is the lesson for all of us:

This mild-mannered teenager, not belligerent nor under the influence of any drugs, absorbed a full-power, hollow-point 45ACP bullet, at point-blank range, and subsequently displayed scarcely more than moderate discomfort! He was able to walk under his own power, never lost consciousness, never collapsed, and reportedly joked with ambulance attendants on his way to the hospital!”

Officer Jared Reston, shot by .45 in face and leg, plus a bunch to the vest, hand to hand struggle with shooting going on...his attacker dead due to Reston's .40.

And the .357 has the same issues...

"Richard Blackburn shot at Trooper Mark Coates with a .22 mini pistol, and Coates responding with five (count ’em, five) shots of .357 Magnum to the chest of Blackburn. Did that put Blackburn “out of the fight”? Hardly. Blackburn subsequently fired another shot from his .22lr, which managed to enter the armpit hole of Coates’ vest, find his heart, and killed him. Blackburn is alive today, serving his prison sentence."

    You just never know.:(

    that's why i carry 22lr

  12. I am one of the few who do not buy the hollow point hype. Most times I carry 40 S&W FMJ flat points, but then I do see the occasional bear. IMO penetration is more important than expansion, and there is just so many circumstances where HP did not penetrate enough.

On the OP I am glad the police caught these bung holes, before they could kill again. Shame we have to pay for ones medical bills though.
