I have got my 995 just about the way I want it. I just put on a home made barrel shroud and it looks great. I made it out of some scrap aluminum bar stock we have where I work. I had a guy mill it on the cnc machine, I drilled the cooling holes and drilled and tapped the set screw holes that hold it on. Then we polished it as best we could, but I may eventually paint it black. I did have a red dot sight, but I took it off until I get some picatinny rail that covers the upper fore area. Any way, here it is:
Thanks guys. I may paint the shroud black, but I didn't have the heart to tell the guy that helped me(he did most of the polishing) Yes that is a chrome receiver. It really wasn't what I was looking for, but I couldn't pass this one up. I thought about buying a black receiver cover,or maybe even painting this one black. I have not yet had a chance to get to the range. I bought a 995 back in 1998,and shot a couple hundred rounds thru it,so I am very familiar with how it runs with the original stock, but man I am just itching to try the new stock.
I would call Hi-Point and see if they would sell you a black receiver cover. I bet they would ship you one for free...
