New pack lid just showed up for my ruck. I have the full GenII ILBE system with divider and radio pouch that I used in the field and I let a friend borrow the main ruck because his fat ass couldn't get his waist strap to fit on his...

He "lost" the lid somewhere up on the side of the mountain. Pushed off replacing it until my latest FAK wild hair. $18 shipped from McGuire Army Navy out of Lakewood, NJ. Finally broke down and got my GovX membership done for the discounts...

So I just spent the last hour cursing up a storm and redressing the pack straps and buckles. Turns out one of the 50 zipper pulls must have jumped ship with the lid, because it's not there anymore. Also missing are a dozen strap keeper bands, but that's whatever. I think I had eventually replaced them all with bands I liberated from unsecured packs at S4 anyways. That's what electrical tape and Amazon are for, right?

Here you go @Rerun my 70L ruck in all of its glory. Rifle for reference. The assault pack (not pictured) holds another 25 liters and is a "normal" size pack for every day...

I'm cheap. I still have my large ruck with frame and medium ruck with frame. Well I kept all my gear because it was for display and not wear. But my kid has liberated most of it.

That is my issue gear. We had to trade in our deuce gear to get it. Got mine, then got out... S4 showed I had turned in my old ALICE gear and my issuance chit hadn't processed yet, so I got to keep it because technically it didn't exist... Got myself a free $600 setup...

Dry, not much. Loaded? It's rated for 120lb on the main and 40lbs on the assault pack.
You're not going to realistically carry 160 pounds of stuff on your back, right?

You're going to divide the load onto a cart and your person.

Right?

My gear, not counting weapons, comes to 53 pounds.

Which is slightly less than 25 percent of my body weight.

He didn’t say “carry”….he said “rated”.

At one point in our lives, we all carried too freaking much. Most of us are too broken down to do it anymore, and Rach is extra broken.🤣

Ayup.

My friend Brie, was Army Infantry. He ruined his knees jumping out of a moving deuce and a half with his 85 pound ruck and a mortar base plate.
He collects 35% disability because of this in addition to his pension from the government.
A great man, Brie.

I used to, back in the day. Now they say you're only supposed to pack up to 20-25% of your own body weight. So for me, that's between 60 and 75lbs. There aren't many 325lb hikers out there, so I plan on keeping my rescue pack to around 50lbs. I'm condensing and combining, making substitutions based on cost and weight, and creating a fully modular system where if I'm the downed individual somebody can look in my bag and the pieces are labeled or I can give instructions if I'm still able to communicate.

You got that right. If I'm ever telling a story about a full pack it's 99% guaranteed to have started with "Once upon a time, in a land far far away..."

I'm wondering if it comes with a ring mount. Imagine one of Sleepy Joe's hated fully semi-automatic AK-15 20mm Assault flame throwers mounted on the handle bars

But in reality, you still believe you may have to do it ONE MORE TIME, just maybe, in a true emergency. Hope u never have to...
