Hey im new to the forum and i just bought a 995, and i am more than pleased with both! I live up in north-central Montana and i can't wait to slaughter some gophers and rabbits this summer, 995 style! i plan on ordering a charging handle, sight rail, aluminum trigger, and flash suppressor from bushman. Any other mods you think i should get? Let me know what you guys think of my new setup!

Mods so far include:
-ATI stock
-ATI buttpad
-NcStar 3-9x42 illuminated compact scope with leapers rings
-harris adjustable bipod
-buttpad magazine holder w/3 mags
-sling

That's a nice setup you've got there. Do you have your scope set at 50 or 100 yards? I've got open sights dialed in at 50-65yds, but have been looking for an illuminated scope or reflex sight. How much did that scope set you back?

I have the scope set at closer to 100 yards, and it cost me $52 for the scope itself and like $9 for the rings. You should check out OpticsPlanet.com, they have awesome deals on both scopes and red-dot/reflex sights. And as for the magazine holder it actually came with my carbine, i bought the 995PRO package that came with 3 extra mags and the holder. Since the holder was meant for use on the original stock, it took a bit of stretching to get it on but it is pretty solid and i like it. The brand for it is Allen if you want to look it up.

One day I was BSing with Jim on the phone and asked him if there were any new issues with the Hi-point carbines that should be aware of. He said there was one and that he was seeing a lot of carbines coming in for service that have metal eroded off the bottom of the bolt. He said that it was being caused by an increase in spring pressure from the 15 round mags and that the top round was scrapping metal off the bottom of the bolt as it rode over the top round in the mag.

i gotta call bs on that. what's the bolt made off? butter? the bolt when traveling rearward to eject the round has to go over a full magazine that's under spring pressure. if there's enough pressure to wear the bolt, it should be enough to seize the bolt completely.

Lose the Butt Pad and put a compensator on the barrell and it will look like my 995.....One fine looking home defense weapon. Also, a lot of fun at the range............

nice gun! but you need something on the end of the barrell. Go for a compensator laser/light combo.
