Bought my first Hi-Point today, JHP .45. I own a few long guns and a few other pistols, this is also my first .45, and I've been eyeing Hi-Points for quite a while now, finally took the plunge! Can't wait to take it to the range.

Let me save you some time, go back to your LGS and buy the HP 4595TS same mags same ammo and just wicked fun to shot.
I put some wooden grips on my JHP made it look awesome and didn't ruin the way it shoots at all.

Welcome to the HP sickness, we had cookies at one time

Was able to sneak out to the range earlier today. Had a few FTF issues, all magazine-related, but for the most part everything went well. Was shooting too high at 7 yards, had to bring it down a bit, eventually did OK for the first time out. The ones off to the left were my first few shots, I think I was anticipating a heavy recoil (which was really not bad at all). I'm a happy camper!

Have any plans to mod it or just break it and the mags in real good first?
Has anyone told you about the Dave Mahan rear metal sights?

My initial thoughts were to just run several rounds of ammo through the mags (one works better than the other), and maybe take them apart, check for burrs, etc. inside (I presume the mags can be taken apart). I haven't had a gun yet that didn't hiccup a few times out of the gate, and the more I shot, the less issues I had. I will say I like the way it feels and shoots. I hadn't heard of the Dave Mahan rear metal sights, but I looked at the link, and I think that would be a good mod for sure.

I actually looked at the 4595TS earlier in the day. For some reason, the grip on the carbine seemed a tad larger than on the pistol, and it wasn't a good fit for me (I have small hands). Still something I will definitely think about, they look like they would be fun to shoot.

Like others have said I loaded the mags with ammo let sit and two weeks later they feed fine, loaded easier and no ammo issue's

I also buffed the feed ramp with my dremel and some polishing compound!
Most mags need some lip tweaking.
