I wanted a gun that would be a little easier to conceal than my c9 so I decided on the Kel-Tec PF-9. I love this gun! It is really slim which makes it easy to wear in an inside the waistband holster. It also is a 9mm which gives you better stopping power and not to mention its cheaper than .380 ammo. Not to mention that it is a very reasonably priced gun. I picked mine up for $329 after searching all over Orlando for a gun store with one in stock. Fired 150 rounds through it today for the first time and had one FTF about half way through. I still need to put more ammo down range but so far this gun is awesome.

Cool, ler us know how it goes with further shooting. I'm actively looking right now for something small and light.

Was your hand sore after that many rds? mine woulda been.
Uncle Mike's #14 is great little holster for that, if you don't already have one.

I'm trying to decide between one of the keltec 9s or a p3at. I've never carried before, I'm about to get my CCW. How does the gun feel with an inside the waste band holster. I tried sticking my cell phone in my waste band just to see how that feels.. felt kind of weird.... do you loosen up the belt some or what, how does that work.

My thought was the p3at was a little smaller and could fit inside my pocket better...then I'd have no excuses on carrying all the time. but I like having a 9mm better just for the extra power.

you get used to it, slt. or you don't and figure another way to conceal. SOB (fitting for me) works well when not sitting.
Important thing: if it's in a pocket be sure its also in a holster

My hand was pretty sore but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. People online have compared it to the kick of a 357mag stub nose. I've never shot one of those but have seen them on the range and this seemed a lot easier to control.

I was trying to decided between the PF-9 and the P-3AT too and my suggestion is to get your hands on both guns and see which one feels better. I felt both and my observation was that the P-3AT was just too small for my hands. I love the fact that it could be carried in a pocket holster but I don't think I'd have good control shooting it. The PF-9 fits my hands much better and for a 9mm you'll be amazed at how slim it is. That is the best part of this gun. It is super slim which makes it easier to carry inside the waist band. Its about as thick as my cell phone so I'd say that's a pretty good comparison. I've yet to get a holster but I'll post an update when I do.

I have an inexpensive High Hoon IWB for my P-11 and really like it. Take a look at those, it was $24 and it's holding up real nice.

The PF9 will be cheaper on ammo and also good for plinking as well as being a decent caliber for carry. The P3AT will have alot more recoil (felt recoil), a smaller amount of ammo to choose from and not as effective for carry as a 9mm Luger. The P3AT will be easier to conceal and the newer ammo can make it almost as effective as a 9mm but once more there will be a recoil issue and it is more a SD gun than a plinker.
I've also heard bad things about the P3AT but have not owned one myself, the one I did shoot worked everytime.

I've carried a P3AT for 2 yrs, all waking hrs, where legal. Probably 700 rds down range, without a hic-cup. Have a CT laser, and carry hornady Critical Defense, also a +1 mag ext. for better grip. Love it, and always available in front pocket, in a galco holster. Easy to forget it's there, only about 12 oz. loaded. Jim <><

PF9 is on my short list. Probably my next gun after my .22 comes in. I'm trying to minimize my different types of ammo I have to stock, or I'd get the P3AT. Hard enough to keep enough 9mm around, let alone adding more varieties.

my KT's balk a bit after 50-100 rounds, IMO because they are built to tighter tolerances and the dirt accumulated after firing that many rounds, will probably cause some malfunction.

If at that time you clean them up, they will continue to perform until more gunk gets accumulated. Next time at the range, wipe them down and lube them again and I'll bet it will start working properly.

Good luck!

Interesting. I've put 200 rounds through my P3AT at one session and 250 through my PF-9. I know a lot of people claim the recoil is too harsh for that, but I disagree. Both were working fine at the end of that number of rounds. I've always wondered if KelTec, admittedly a fairly small company, has some variance in their manufacturing tolerances that allows these different experiences from people.

We had a member here who did a fair amoint of gunsmithing and didn't like the Kel-Tecs and the reason was because of issues related to dealing with them on warranty issues.

I do not have a P3AT though I have shot one without issues of any kind.
