Ammoland is reporting that HP will be introducing a new contemporary 9mm pistol soon. Anybody know anymore about it?
No one knows yet who hasn't signed an NDA. But HP has reported that there are some "exciting" things coming.

Expect to find out next week at SHOT.

Hmmmm. They are coming out with a "compact high-capacity pistol". Just in time for Congress to ban them. Brilliant!
If this is a worry for you (as it should be) then I strongly recommend joining one of the national 2A advocacy organizations, your state-level organization, and both calling and writing all of your congress critters.

I like the way the mock-up looks. It tickles my space-gun nerve.

And I can't be the only one who thinks the new Hi Point "H" logo looks like Darth Vader's Tie Fighter.

I thought a modern concealable pistol was coming down the pike from HP.
It's all in what you consider "concealable." Context is everything.

This is roughly in the same size as a Commander, long considered quite concealable.

ref: https://www.hipointfirearmsforums.com/threads/rfc-standad-size-classifications.325714/

It looks like an updated c9.
Because it is. Did you watch the vid? In it they say that it uses some of the same parts and a lot of the same engineering.

It does look better and with a double stack mag. Only 10 rounds a pistol that size should be at least 15 or better rounds.
We're not 100% sure of what kind of internal mag design will be used, but if it is the same sort as the weird double-stack Makarovs, IJ-70 18AH, with their sorta coffin mags (I have experience with these, I'd say that a 10-12 round capacity is correct for the size, not 15. The catch is having to have the top 2-3 rounds be single-stack in order to fit the existing receiver and trigger bow. It's actually a pretty nifty bit of engineering.

I wonder if this was just a teaser and they are gonna bring out another model. I'm on the fence with this one.
I'm betting that this is pretty close to what they're going to come out with.

Looking at the crappy construction? Pretty boy didn't rack the slide, or dry fire it. Why? It's all 3D printed. Just a mock up for people to look at it.
Pretty sure I've used the terms "3D printed" and "mock up" multiple times in reference to this.

If you re-listen to bald head giggle boy sounds like there is big changes for the entire line up. Especially in the capacity realm.
I admit that I'm happy HP is coming out with a higher cap mag, but I'm also a bit worried. Magazines have always been the issue with HP's pistols, particularly the C9. And if the new mag is designed how I suspect, that means that it has at least 2-3 extra parts that a standard single-stack mag doesn't. That's 2-3 more possibilities for out-of-spec, damaged, or tolerance stacking issues. That worries me. I never had any problems at all with my IMEZ mags for the "hi cap makarov" but lots of other people reported that they did.

That makes three threads it's been posted to Johnny Come-Lately. If Rach isn't to busy having his 4th coronary, maybe he can merge them.
Done.

Could it be they're using the new magwell design to maintain backwards compatibility w/ older single-stack mags?
it is an unintentional but happy consequence of using a design that eliminates the need to re-engineer the receiver and trigger bow. Just like on the IJ-70 18AH, you will be able to use the standard single-column magazines as long as it will lock into the magazine well. This was cake with the IMEZ because it used a heel release.

Yeah, but looking @ the new mag catch location, don't think it would still grab the old mags - though perhaps the old mags could be cut for the new catch?
Maybe. But I have my doubts.

Keeping the price low almost makes up for the lack of a true double stack...
Honestly, if the mag is what I think it is, then I'd be tempted to buy just on the novelty alone.

Hi Point needs to get out the handgun production business if this is all they new crap they can come up with. It's a joke and not a funny one, IMO. If they gave me one for free, I'd run to the pawn shop and ump it while it still has some value.
I disagree. I think that this new model, if it is what they are so far saying it will be, will be a marked improvement over the former model, particularly if they keep the same price point.

Some thoughts:
1) I'm not liking thet looks of the toothpaste cap on the barrel.
The "cap" is a thread protector. One of the options supposed to be in the works is a threaded barrel. It will be an option. You don't have to get one.

2) Will the cost of extra mags be the same as the existing 10 rounder?
My guess is that the new mags will cost more because they will be more complex with at least 2 extra parts more than a standard, simple, single column magazine.

3) Do I wait or sell now while the C9 still commands a premium price?
Neither. The existing C9 will never be a high dollar gun. The aluminum frame Stallards didn't increase in value when HP came out with a poly frame and an honest-to-mergatroid thumb button mag release instread of the heel release.

That is a good price. Occasionally the Taurus PT 111 G2 can be snagged for $200, takes SIG 226/228 mags, quite the deal. I'd say it's the best in it's class, w/ a better trigger than the KelTec or SCCY, from what I've heard.
It has a better trigger than the Kel Tec P11 but not the Kel Tec PF9. The SCCY is a ripoff of the P11. But, apparently, the product is a well made ripoff.

Or you could become your own SOT and FFL.

RocketFFL is supposed to be a good step by step process to get it.

Yeah it's funny that both brands are made very close to each other around Daytona. I haven't held a SCCY and just saw one in person the other day at a local shop. Seemed a lot bigger than I expected. I've owned a P11 and a PF9. I liked the P11 fine. The trigger on it was certainly better than the PF9. But the 709 Slim I have now beats the hell out of the PF9 in most categories.
So you thought that the trigger on the P-11 was better than the trigger on the PF-9? I suppose that it's up to your preference but the vast majority rate them the other way around. As far as the 709 slim, the PF-9 has a better trigger and is smaller in all dimensions. But, again, if you like it better then that's what's important.

The PF9 has a singl strike Glock style pull. The P11 as far as I remember has a traditional DAO style trigger. I prefer that. The 709 has the same DAO second strike ability as well. It also has a very short reset. Better still it Jas a Glock style disassembly. I don't have a problem with Kel Tec guns and the wife still carries a Kel Tec P32 . But that pull pin take down kinda sucks.
I know there's plenty of Taurus haters out there but they still get some things right. The G2 and G2C are good examples of that.
Fair enough. Those are reasonable things to like. As far as Taurus, I'm not a Taurus hater. I have two other three Taurus pistols myself, including the PT111 millennium g2. I bought that for my son. It is a DA/SA trigger with double strike capability. But I don't like how far back it breaks. The biggest complaint I have with the gun.

Okay that's good need to know info. I had loaded the wife's pistol with Hornady Critical Defense hollow points. Then I wound up with a box of Winchester Silvertips and went with those.
Your gun may be different. Anytime you start making guns this small they always end up with a personality of their own. Run ammo through the gun to find out which yours likes. My gun is not your gun and it may digest ammo that yours won't touch or vice versa.
