New old scope

Discussion in 'General Firearms Discussion' started by Robertl1, May 5, 2015.

  1. Been out to the range with my newish Henry frontier, eyes must have gotten worse over the winter. I am not hitting anything past 50 yards, hate to do it but think I'm going to have to scope it. Any suggestions of a scope that would not look too stupid on this? Looking at 100yards in.

I put a cheap $16 tasco rimfire on my octagon barrel 22, it is a small 20mm
unit and looks fine on there! 2-7 power and it should work well past 100 yds.

PS: Mine is even more low profile than the above pic, and looks very well matched. If you do not like the Tasco, I'm sure a similar sized scope can be found with the low profile.
My Henry shoots standard velocity 22 and 22 shorts very quietly! :)

underGRound has a good idea. I like fixed power scopes and wally world usually has 4 power with mounts for around $25, at least in my area

  5. Good idea, love shooting .22 shorts. Hard finding them locally.

Here's a few ideas. The $16 Walmart unit isn't bad, I have a few of them, they are decently sharp, and hold zero for me. 3rd gun up has one.

I also like the one right above it, I have several of those styles, of various ages. The shape looks old school enough to work, I think.

My 39A can handle a full size scope, it's a full size gun, unlike the carbine style lever guns.

I found a used Simmons 4-12x40 at a small gun store in a no-stoplight town, and
the price was right! Scope looked NEW, with covers, for $45. Nice Clear Glass!
So check out LGS's and pawn shops I guess...

    Thanks Flash!
But for the cheapskate, don't bother. It is 10¢/rd, rather pricey!
