http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/2931390/posts Found it looking for info on the Aguila SSS 60 grain ammo. It's about other 22LR also, but they have a grouping for the SSS I'm thinking of getting some of the SSS as it loosens up in supply. I Hope.
That SSS 60-grain stuff has always intrigued me. In the past, there was a stretch of time when everything from Aguila was available for some good prices, intermittently, on Midway's site. The SSS was available for somewhere between $30 and $40 for a brick of 500 if I recall correctly.
I had a box of it. It's kinda funny, it's like extra bullet stuffed in a .22 short shell. I tried it in three guns, but never saw any improvement over good ol' Federal bulk pack. Not to say it wouldn't be great in another gun. When I got it, I think it was about $6-$7 for the 50. I also bought a few other "higher dollar" ammo types to fiddle with...still got most of them.
It is back ordered @ Midway, and now goes for $64 a brick :loco: I read, Ajole, where it is a big, long chunk of lead loaded into a standard 22s case. Prolly loaded to the brim with powder as well
