That's some pretty nice "spin" marketing a cost reducing measure for them as a customer and environmentally driven decision and charging more for it as "premium" ammo to boot.

    NEW American Eagle Syntech Ammunition
    by B. Gil Horman - Tuesday, January 26, 2016

Handgun ammunition continues to evolve in new and interesting directions to serve the needs of consumers. Right now there is a push to reduce airborne lead produced during indoor practice sessions. To address this issue Federal Premium Ammunition has released the new Syntech bullet design as part of the American Eagle practice-grade ammunition line. The Total Synthetic Jacket (TSJ) bullet consists of a lead round-nose core completely encapsulated in a polymer jacket that provides several benefits when compared to traditional metal jackets. It reduces barrel wear with 12 percent less friction, eliminates copper and lead fouling and produces 14 percent less heat. The lead-free primers provide reliable and consistant ignition. The first offering out the door will be a 115-gr. 9 mm round.

    It will come down.

I'm also sure it is down-loaded for the "decreased friction" in the barrel
so as to retain the same velocity range they want. Can't have a hotter
    round to boot, IYKWIM...

Yep...lets make some cheap crap that fixes a non-existent problem, do it at 15% less cost than what we already sell, and then charge 40% more for the "new and improved" stuff!

Been doing it a while already. Just kinds of burns me when someone takes an established procedure and touts it as something new.

Nothing to see here, move along.

It was over priced, it is good ammo, but they were selling here for over $18 a box.
