Did anybody watch it last night? There are a lot of areas of concern. One thing he said that I don't understand is when he said that the young and the healthy are a burden on the health care system when they go to the ER. I have never been to the ER but at most once a year I go to a non emergency hospital near my house and I have always paid my bill upfront and in full and I have no insurence. He also steated that it would be a requirment for every person to have some kind of health insurence weather goverment or private. Another thing that made me mad was when he said that the health care bill would not cover illegal imigrents, they are covered now with medicare, why would the goverment just suddenly stop covering them. I loved it when Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) yelled out "You lie" to Obama. Apperntly the left did not like that, that because it is the truth. I sent an email to Rep. Wilson today thanking him for his actions. If he was in my district I would vote for him. The only thing that Obama talked about last night that I approved of was when he said that the health care bill would force the insurence companies to accept people with pre existing conditions. What does everybody else think?

I think that young healthy people are a burden because most people my age that I know dont get insurance and go to the ER for any little thing because they dont have a docter and then just let the bills pile up. Thats all I realy know about that.

There was nothing new or important in the speech itself; you knew what he was going to say, Congress knew what he was going to say, and nobody's mind or vote was changed.

What was interesting was the tenor of the people in the room. Obama's normal air of superiority was subdued and his trademark self importance was hard to see. Nobody in Congress became excited and most seemed like they were there out of duty; the rapturous fawning expressesions of the past were missing from the faces of the Democrats while the Republicans appeared disinterested or almost hostile. Even Nancy Pelosi was not her normal jack-in-the-box self; she failed to repeatedly pop up with her phony vacuous grin and clap like a wind up monkey as she has done in the past.

Altogether, the only remarkable thing about the speech was how much things have changed for 'The One' in less than a year.

According to NPR, the Democrat that's running against Wilson got $400,000 in donations overnight. I'd like to get on Wilson's site and donate to his reelection campaign but his website was down due to high volume of traffic.

This guy's got the big brass kind that *clink* when he walks. Call out Zero on the national stage? He's got me on board.

Yes, what he did was awesome, but now he'll lose the election. Had he kept his mouth shut, he would of had a better chance of winning his next election, and he can do a LOT more good if he wins.

IMO, the problem is that politicians spend too much time being politicians. I'm glad to see one saying what needs to be said instead of cowering behind the fear of losing votes. I just hope that others learn from his example.

Right now at this point in time with the economy the way it is and jobs going down the drain, health insurance should be the last thing on his mind. I think he should worry more on the economy and jobs before trying to work "miracles". So far in all this time he hasn't succeeded in one of his hairbrained ideas.

The only truthful thing uttered that night was when Joe Wilson spoke up. I wasn't the only one with a sign Saturday that said Joe Wilson was right. In fact all of the people I spoke to that day had a positive view of Wilson. He's getting a check from me, and I'm in Ohio.

most everyone is required to carry auto insurance if they drive. whats the difference?

insurance is an inherently socialist idea anyway, sharing risk so that no one is stuck with something they can't afford (an accident).
