Ok, it was a bit slow at work today and one of my minions and I were discussing firearms for SHTF. We deviated from modern firearms and drifted into the realm of the absurd  but it ended up being an informative discussion.

What we worked on today, rules are no semi-auto or automatic firearms allowed. You are only allowed 6 firearms.

Here is what I came up with:

    Marlin 336 in 30-30
    Marlin 1895 in 357 mag
    Ruger Security 6 or S&W Model 19 357
Marlin or Henry 22 lever action
    S&W K22 revolver
Any good pump 12 gauge prefer a Mosberg 500 or Rem 870

My minion came up with pretty much the same but he likes 44 and after meeting his wife I understand why. :D

    Marlin 1895 44 mag
    S&W 29
Marlin or Browning 22 Lever action
    Ruger SA 22
    Rem 870 12 Ga

    Ok what would you have.

I would add a double barrel shot gun in the same gauge as the pump...

All a matter of personal choice. Mine is whatever I have at the time the SHTF. Sure aint gonna worry about SHTF happening. Just relax and have fun with the guns I have.

Bull I really like the 35 Remington but ammo is so hard to find around here I went with the 30-30. If ammo was not an issue I would go with the 35 Rem. I like the Henry rifles and probably need to look at their 44 or 357.

I don't have the rifle anymore..... But still got a bunch of .35 rounds, cases, and bullets.... Got several that are .358 semi wad cutter lead reloads..... They were a freakin blast to shoot.... Next to zero recoil.

I've shot the 30-30 and 32 in the Marlin and I liked the 32 a bit better but the 35 just seems a bit more versatile.

    What I have:

    Maverick 88 12 gauge
    Savage Model 24 .223 over 20 Gauge
    Savage Model 99 in .300 Savage (or Dad's 30-30)
    Savage 110 in 30-06
    .22 Heritage revolver
and a BRNO straight pull .22 rifle.

It's just more accurate than my Marlin 39A.

I could sub in an NEF break action 12 for Slugs, I guess.
Could swap in various military bolt guns for the Savage 110; I have a scoped K-31 that could be a VERY good rifle, if I ever bothered spending time with it.

But I lack a big boy revolver, other than my replica 1851 Navy .44.:(

    I'd go with a pump 12ga, a bolt .308, and a .357 mag revolver.

Probably a Hawk 982, Savage 11, and... A Ruger Security Six or something.

Less to break on a single shot hammer fired 12G, doesn't have to be instead of a pump but in addition to, for $100 you can't go wrong with a backup single shot 12
  19. I guess it depends on what your doing and where your at, when the feces is flung into the whirling blades.

    I carry either a Taurus .380 or a Armscor .38spl. 2' revolver as CCW.
So I guess that's what I will fight with until I can get a long gun.
Long gun chambered in .223/5.56 or .308 or 7.62x54r or a pistol cartridge carbine.

    My dream list would be:
Shotgun; pump or semi-auto in 12 or 20 gauge
Rifle; semi auto, bolt action in .223/5.56 or .308 or 7.62x54r
    Carbine, semi-auto or lever action; a pistol cartridge, 357mag, 9mm or 45acp.
    Handguns: .357 magnum, .38spl., 9mm and 45acp.

You know, you could make it really interesting, and not allow any chambering developed after, say, 1930?

Or maybe nothing without a rim?

    Straight wall cartridges only?

But that's getting too picky, probably. Could still be fun though.
