And people think that my training in Cutlass, Saber, and big knife is an anachronism and silly. And for those who are interested, yes, Cutlass fits pretty well with a machette. So does some sword work that predates it significantly. I'm thinking Medieval era Dussak and Messer. Not sure about Russian Shashka.
