Hey guys,

I just had to tell you what happened today. The President of my local chapter of the CMA called me last night and asked me if I was going to the Patriot Guard escort of the troops coming home to Dixon, IL. I told him no.

So I woke up this morning and realized that if I hurried up I could make it to Rochelle by 9:30am. I got on the road at 9 am and was to the truck stop in Rochelle right on the dot at 9:30.

The troops showed up and everyone who was driving buy was honking and waving. Once we were on the road everyone was pulling over to let us through, there were around 30-40 of us bikers in the lead with the bus load of troops behind us. Everyone in the small towns on the way were out on the roads waving. For the last 5 miles of the trip into Dixon, someone had put up these large Yellow ribbon signs made from plywood with the names of our home town service members serving in the military over in Iraq.

We got into town and the firetrucks were at the airport waiting for us, they pulled out in front of us and escorted us to the National Guard's depot. It looked like everyone in town showed up and the whole thing just brought a tear to my eyes.

I have never been involved in one of these escorts before, but it opened my eyes to the patriotism we still have in this great country.

When I got home, the first thing I did was sign up for the Patriot Guard!!
