I can't help but wonder if the reaction/lack of charges would be the same had it been a 30yo man that shot a robber... It seems like every single case of self defense ends poorly for the person who was merely defending themself.

I was wondering the same thing. But at least from a media stand point Ohio hasn't been too bad on a couple of the shootings in self defense this year, as long as they're legit.

Don't mess with old ladies! Years ago, the American Rifleman ran an "armed citizen" reprint about another little old lady and a shotgun. She was awakened by an intruder in her bedroom, she told him to get out. Not fearing her, he told her to stay in bed and be quiet and started rummaging throught her closet. She quietly retrieved her shotgun from under the bed, crept up behind him silently as he bent over into the closet, placed the bbls against his posterior and let him have it! Literally blew his a** off! He survived but he has trouble sitting upright now with one cheek missing.......

As a follow-up to this story, her son was surprised that his mother was able to hit the BG, as she was "the worst shot in the world". As her son was looking at the perp lying still on the parking lot, another shot rang out. She was still holding the .357, and due to nerves squeezed off a round into the floor. Fortunately they were on the bottom floor.
