yeah, i bought mine about a month ago. it feels good to me (i have small hands) and didnt mind paying 150 for it with the life time warrenty. like everyone said at first the safetys are a pain but once you get used to them your good to go.
Might need to polish the area where the slide contacts the frame on the new barrel. Mine ran 100% with the short barrel but choked with the extended one. Why? The contact points on the extended barrel and the feed ramp were a bit rougher on the extended barrel. A little polishing and the extension works great.I just bought the range kit last week.. waiting for the delivery man.... come on man... bring me my gun....
The trick is to put your finger over the spring and then pull the slide back until you can use the safety to manually lock the slide back. Then the barrel clips right in. It really isn't a problem once you get used to it.Just got mine today... goes to the range Wednesday.... I tried changing barrels just to know how to, dam... almost took out an eye.. dam spring shot 20 feet.. actually shot away from about 5 times, almost lost the dam thing... that spring is very very tricky to get back in and together... cant wait to see how it handles on the range...
If you take the short barrel and place it on top of the slide backwards (muzzle end up against the breech), that will hold the spring in place nicely. You can also use the narrow side of a magazine. The trick is to put your finger over the spring and then pull the slide back until you can use the safety to manually lock the slide back. I saw one at one of my LGS's. I asked to see it and the counter guy immediately asked what I wanted it for and then started trying to talk me into a larger, higher dollar, 22. I told him thank you and left. I ended up buying a different gun elsewhere, but it was still a pocket sized .22LR instead of the Walther P22 he tried to upsell me on. And I didn't buy it from him. I was motivated to buy at the time too.I just wish that someday, I could actually see an HP22 in the wild. I have never seen one at a store, or anywhere.![]()
I'd rather have the Phoenix over the Walther P22 anyways. Those things are way too pricey for what they are and my P22 sucked. If I was going to get a gun like that I'd buy the SR22.I saw one at one of my LGS's. I guess there are still some folks who will shoot themselves in the foot by offering unsolicited advice.
Peace favor your sword,

This. Those things are way too pricey for what they are .
Women pay ridiculous prices for fake cans all the time. Fake silencers too.This.
I think of them as the 10/22 of the pistol world. Looks nifty, has a few models and a few accessories, like a fake can, which means for some reason, they can charge $100 too much, and people will pay it with a smile.![]()
I'd pay more than the 200$ for the tax stamp for a silencer that worked on a 13 year old daughter.Women pay ridiculous prices for fake cans all the time. Fake silencers too.![]()
I have never seen one in the wild. But every now and then a traveling gun zoo will come threw. And there is always 10-20 of them.I'm not saying anything is wrong with the HP22, and I know it costs much more for the S&W, but its funny how the S&W 22a will let me swap any of the three barrels with any of the three frames. No parts come loose, one button to push.

At the time I was looking for options in POCKET .22's for my wife.I'd rather have the Phoenix over the Walther P22 anyways. Those things are way too pricey for what they are and my P22 sucked. If I was going to get a gun like that I'd buy the SR22.
Mine was way off with the sight. It still shoots a bit low but I can compensate for that. It was out about 2 feet to the right out of the boxHad my phoenix on the range last thursday.. did pretty well. Put winchester and thunderbolt thru it, gun was great. I couldnt hit the target at 50 ft.. oh wait I think I did 2 out of 20.. im not the best aimer.. thinkn about gettn a scope for the 5" barrel.. luv the weight and feel of the gun..
