So I'm browsing my favorite pawnshop today shooting the breeze and law and behold in their last display case they have a Lee Enfield revolver.....
Can't find any import marks, everything seems to work right.
It's got a ( heinous) double action only trigger pull probably in excess of 10-12 lbs.
What seems to be the original wood grips.
It has a faint serial number but I can't find a production date.
It would be a nice addition to my 1941 Lithgow.
It's on sale now for $289 but I'm pretty sure I can beat them down to $200-$225.
    What say you?
Where can I find production years?

This. Be aware there may be some slight overlap of the prefix from the end of one year to the beginning of the next.

Mine is dated 41. It is along the top rib of the barrel. The more I look at mine the more little markings I see all over it. 38 s&w right?

    Haven't bought it yet.
Going to do a little research first, figured I'd start here.
    It's a 38 S&W

Looks to be in the same condition as this example, just without the spur on the hammer.

No markings like this one but it doesn't have the lanyard ring.

Apart from a faint serial number it has some very small markings or proof stamps that I obviously have not identified.

So no markings around the trigger guard like this one:

Which grips swags? The hammerless version was done for the tank personel because the hammer kept getting caught on everything inside the tanks. I think that was between 1941 and 1945. I would say it's definitely wartime. If you can get it for $200.00 or less that would be good, due to the condition. I paid 250 for mine not 2 weeks ago.

    From gunboards.
They have it stickered at like $399 but on "sale" for $287

  15. Enough of this! Beat 'em down to $200 cash and run with it! :p

    Ok, that was a NO-GO...

Went in today and had a good look at it.
Serial number just above the trigger guard up by the barrel starts with ZA.
It has some barrel markings that I can't figure out followed by 3.5 tons
Wood smooth grips and SPT 54 on the cylinder.
They wouldn't go below $287 as it's on sale :)rofl:)
I even tried like hello it's me you're talking to, but no-go.

Back to the grindstone i guess....
