Will taking the powder coat off of the slide, void my guns warranty?
I don't think so. But it won't look pretty. I have never seen a perfect polish job on a slide. I have seen a few decent jobs, but not perfect. I would take a scratched up Nickel slide over the polished ZMAK slide? Just keep your eyes open, they're out there!
Zamac has a naturally rough surface, alot of texture from the forming process. Be prepared for ALOT of work, and then twice as much more to even begin to get it smooth enough to polish it.
It can look good, but be prepared for a lengthy workout.
If you look at a Walther P-22 with the silvery finish, you will see what ZAMAK looks like when it's smoothed.
You can get zamac glass smooth. Its just not with the time and trouble.
That's the truth.
Most of us call that color "gray".
Well... Maybe more of a silvery gray.
Geeze, way to step on a joke...
Btw, the mags are "silver", so...there's that.
Hey, that was my joke in response to your joke.
When I went to renew my driver's license, I wrote colour of eyes - green, colour of hair brown...
I watched the clerk transfer the data to my new license as - colour of eyes - green, colour of hair - gray...
"Yo!" I yelled, pointing at my hair, "Brown!"
He turned towards me and remarked, "Sir, in this part of Texas that shade of Brown is called Gray!"
You should've countered with "I identify myself as brown haired.... OPPRESSOR!!!!!!"
I was being pretentious...
Far as I'm concerned, we ain't being pretentious enough!...... It'd at least be good for some laughs....
