rattlesnakes were plentiful today

i killed fourteen while i was out on teh road today. thats FOURTEEN in less than 125 miles of driving. i used up all the ammo i had along for my beretta 21A shooting them out the window and had to resort to smashing them with the wheels and cutting thier heads off with a tire iron. it was wild.

havent seen any rattlers here but have gotten a bunch of big ole black snakes.....biggest one ive gotten was almost a 7 footer

A couple of years ago at Thanksgiving i decided to go snake hunting and wound up killin 11 in about 10 minutes. i found a den and turned 'em into chunkso'snake. stood in the bed of my pickup and used the winchester defender on em.


ill see if i can find the pic...

Well I'd rather eat a rattler than an owl. A dead rattler is one less that will try to bite me when I'm out trying to kill other things. :D

They warn you...so they are really easy to avoid. And they won't bite you if you don't mess with them.

I've walked right up on some that didn't bother to warn me sorry thats not always true.

Yeah they dont always make noise, but the fact that it DIDNT bite you shows that it didnt intend to either.

It didn't bite me because I shot it.

Yes I'm quite sure. They really don't sit out in the timber waiting to warn you in the mountains, you could step right on one and get bit with no rattle at all occuring. But everyone is different I don't give them a chance to bite me and it's a meal for a raptor if I leave it where i kill and don't take it myself. Thats just the way it is.

The only time I've ever killed a rattlesnake is when I damn near got bit by one. It must have been pissed off at something, cuz I didn't go near it, it came after me. Most of the time I live and let live as they have a place in the ecosystem otherwise God wouldn't have put them there in the first place.


I am going to leave this thread alone, but be warned that it's fast on it's way to the DR if emotions continue to get the upper hand over intellect.

Meh, let it go. I've put out some worse threads than this that have hit more nerves. I understand their point, even if I don't agree with it.
