I just bought the Taurus TX22 Competion. I liked the TX22when it was first introduced. I went to order one and they were nonobtanium. No matter, I rarely order as I like to hold one in my hand before purchase. I ended up with a 1911-22. I did later hold a TX22 Competition in my hand, I waffled, then decided against it.
I had mentioned in an earlier thread that I was offered a Ruger 57 that has been in the display cabined at the LGS for some time now for $600 OTD. I went to buy it, but there was another TX22 Competition in the display case. I opted for it instead. I also had the LGS order a standard TX22 upper. I came out of the LGS with enough cash left over for a nice steak, potato, and salad dinner.
I was going to just put a plate on it and remove the RDS mount. I really don’t like hanging stuff off my pistols, and I also have problems with the dot in the RDS. Plus I believe in KISS and Murthy’s Law. If it can go wrong it will, and the more that can go wrong, the greater the frequency will be.
All that said, I believe I will put a RDS on the competition slide. The primary use will be targets and small game. The worst that can happen is that I miss avtarget, or a squirrel lives to see another day. I think I will go with Holosun because they have the ACSS reticle. I think a chevron will serve me better than a dot.
Now you know my thoughts and uses. Recommendations and opinions appreciated.
