Cool!..... We've got a couple dirt track raceways around here. They're a blast too!

1/3 mile paved oval. Paved "X" with 4 approx 3 - 4 foot high air catching speed bumps. I grew up near there and drove several figure 8s and demolition derbies before I had kids and responsibilities. Back then the derbies had 100+ cars and were complete anarchy.

Those figure-eight tracks are fun to see the trains race on. If you haven't seen a train race, they chain three vehicles together, with the motor in the front vehicle, and another driver in the rear car to operate the breaks. The two drivers have to coordinate acceleration and breaking, perfectly, in order to keep the train going. It's a heck of a sight to see.

So going through the pics from yesterday and found a couple amusing things. It was nice to see the rebels represented. Much like the war, shame things didn't turn out better for them. Also Scooby and the gang made an appearance. Unfortunately they had to rush off and solve a mystery and even a roadblock and police pursuit wasn't going to stop them.

Many pics to look at so there might be more. BTW, Scooby finished second.

So things really didn't go well for the rebel. After they made sure he was OK and the cop finished filling out the accident report they towed him to the location depicted above.

Been to a few figure 8 tracks, great to watch, better to bet on which car is going to be the first casualty in the cross,,, have only seen 1 train race,, was pretty wild to.
But the wildest one,, IIRC was in Kansas,,, was a 25 lap trailer race on a figure 8 track. Small campers,, boats,, any thing that could be put on a trailer,, hooked with a ball hitch only to either car or truck.. Totally hilarious to watch.
