Remington 870 options...

I was looking at my 870 and figured it's missing something. I've already installed a six round side saddle... but more mods are in order. As much as I'd like to mount a bayonet on it, I think a flashlight would be more practical. I've looked at the Surefire forend light, but $300 is a bit steep. I've seen lots of other options out there, but think I'd like to gather a few opinions or first hand reviews of weapon lights before buying anything. So if any of you have a light in mind that works well and doesn't break the wallet would you let me know?

ncstar makes pretty good stuff. its all chinese but thats not a big deal for most people. if you want high end its going to cost you. as for mounting ive seen a couple that used cheap rail pieces screwed to the foreend for flashlight mounts. ghetto but it works.

I think ATi makes a flashlight mount for like 10 bucks or something. Im going to be adding one to my Maverick

Lots of mounting options out there. That said, the recoil on a 12 guage is gonna destroy almost any flashlight you mount out there. Maybe one of the Surefire G2 Nitrolon LED lights might hold up. I know the Surefire weapon lights that are designed to be mounted on a weapon have special shock absorbing bulb mounts, one of the reason their weapon lights cost so much.

And then there is this: http://www.opticsplanet.net/tacstar-sidesaddle-light-mount-1081144.html

Might want to consider the Pachmayr forearm, I've got one on my Express and it feels great, slimline and sure grip. It also has a Choate pistol grip stock on it, I like it a lot. I have one of those elastic "butt cuff" ammo holders on it in addition to the sidesaddle. I keep spare buckshot in the elastic carrier and a mix of regular one ounce lead slugs and Remington Copper Solids in the sidesaddle. Also have a nylon 50 round ammo bandolier I keep stored with the gun, if major trouble comes my way I can toss on the bandolier and grab the shotgun in a few seconds. It has a plain old nylon sling on it, but they do make ones with shell loops for extra ammo. There are also adapters that fit between the buttstock and receiver that let you attach a single point sling if you like that kind.
