Saw info about remington R51 based on old blow back design cheep price.. Aluminum and steel. Kinda resembles a c9. It sounds like its junk. Hmmmmm and my hi point just shoots and shoots. No jams and dead on. Wonder what the haters think.

I heard they quit production back in May because it was plagued with problems.

The R51 wasn't a true blow back design like the Hi-Point.
It used a "hesitation-locked" action based off of a John Pedersen design.

Well....no, it's not blowback, any more than a 1911 or Glock is. And no, it wasn't "cheap", just not high.

    .
    So...not what's in a Hi Point?

    As in...it's black, and it's a gun?

No, it sounds like the design and production teams had interface issues.

We think Remasterlington (the company owns Remington, Bushmaster, Marlin, and others) kinda sucks sometimes.

But they'll get it right, and when they do the gun will be far better and cheaper than the stupid Sig or Glock .380 it will compete with.

They don't even see the HP as a competitor. Because it's not. HP has a different customer demographic.

Me too, once they make them correctly. Just odd enough, inexpensive enough, an old design by a guy that could have changed the US military weapons arc, and didn't get the credit he deserved. He's like Eugene Stoner, without the success. It hits all my buttons.;)

  16. Can't resist it's futile. It would be more accurate to say that Hi Point is a poor attempt at the Model 51 design which the R51 is based off from.

Sorry but the Borg grabbed me.

Honestly, the two designed are nothing alike.

The Hi Point design (as well as the Jiminez J.A.-Nine) are actually closer to the Spanish Astra 400/600 design in that they're all simple blowback designs for a 9mm pressure round (though the Astra designs borrow heavily from the Colt Pocket Hammerless with its totally enclosed hammer and backstrap safety).

The "Hesitation Lock" is like nothing else. It's a true hybrid and has physics elements of both simple blowback and delayed blowback recoil.

Anyone who says that the R51 is a knockoff of the C9 either didn't read ANY of the initial articles on its history or is trolling (or both).

In this case, I'm betting "troll."

  18. That's where the poor attempt part came from. Lol I'll admit I was semi trolling with my comment.

The Model 51 was an amazing pistol. I wish I still had mine but kids are expensive at times.
