I bought a used Rossi revolver and was wondering if I could get some help identifying the model number. A previous owner cut the barrel down, so there is little writing still on the barrel. It is a 38 SPC, it was made in Brazil and it was imported by Firearms Int'l Corp. I was thinking it might be a Model 68 or 88? Serial number is 5 digits starting with 19. The front sight is gone (looks like someone might have replaced it after the barrel was cut, but looks like it sheared off). The cylinder is very difficult to open.

Get a flashlight and shine it across the lettering when you take pics, and zoom in so we can read it.

Can also try to color fill with white crayon.

That looks like an Amadeo Rossi & CIA S. Leopoldo RS roll mark from what I can Google Fu.

Rossi got bought out by Taurus. There is a Taurus owners forum called taurusarmed.net with a revolver subgroup. If I were looking for Rossi revolver knowledge, I'd look there.

@CulperRing , my Google fu also says the model number should be stamped in the crane (yoke) cut out of the frame.

Looks like my 1st gun, a Rossi 68. Good little S&W near clone, takes S&W grips.

Cylinder very hard to open.....Why'd ya buy it? I hope the $$$ was good. I had one many yrs ago. Not a bad gun though.
