Well, the g/f and I just bought our first house on August 25th of this year.

For Halloween, rather than party-jumpin' or hitting the bars, we thought it'd be fun to just stay home, order some food, drink some beers and pass out candy.

The kicker is that we wanted to snag a few horror movies to watch that night. We watch this genre regularly and actually were thinking of getting some "older" horror movies like the original Friday the 13th, N.O.E.S., Hellraiser ones. But I'm definitely open to ideas...preferably movies that're actually kinda scary/gruesome. I was even thinking of the original "Last House on the Left" as we just bought and watched the re-make.

Any ideas, guys? :)

I'm always a big fan of "House of 1000 corpses"...
That movie was messed up. One of the few horror movies that gave me nightmares.
Trick or treat should be out on DVD by then. I recently saw a preview and it looks very promising. One of my favorite movies to watch on Halloween is well Halloween! The shining is always on tv on halloween too.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, guys. I own "House of 1,000 Corpses" and we recently watched the Exorcist (though I'm definitely intrigued by the thought of deleted scenes.)

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing some of the newer movies mentioned, but I'm moreso interested in good, older scary movies (The Exorcist would definitely qualify :tongue2:)

I would recommend the original halloween movies I think the first 3 or 4 are pretty good. Curse of Michael Myers is stupid, then of coures theres H20 and the remake from a year back isn't too bad either. Oh yea Halloween 3 isn't about Michael Myeres at all, I never seen it but its supposed to be about some guy making masks that possess kids.

That mask one (Halloween 3) wasn't scary it was just weird. Some "new-age" druid business man designs masks that have some charm in them that when you watch some show on TV it eats your brain and bugs come out your eyes. Essentially, a family stops in the town where the factory is and it just ends up being really weird. I actually laughed pretty hard at some points in the film.

I think a good halloween movie is the original "Night of the Living Dead" in b&w the spookiness is so good in b&w. Also in classics "The Omen" and "Psycho" and "Phantasm"

Newer ones ..."Thirteen Ghosts" or "The Haunting"

and don't forget "Evil Dead" and "Evil Dead 2" throw in Army of Darkness for a trilogy but really not as campily good as the other 2

also I kinda like "The Descent"
