It's my understanding that if a C&R licensee bought it, he can't sell it for money, he can "gift" it to another party. If I'm wrong about this, there are a boatload of C&R holders here that will set me and you both straight on the rules.
Wait till Krippp sees this post. He can give a definitive answer to this question. He's the C&R guru here.
a c&r holder can't sell as a business that provides the basis of his financial support but he can buy and sell as many as he wants as long as it's not his main business
thanks for the info
so for instance if I was to sell one to a family member for what I paid for it that would be legal right... note the person in question is legal to own firearms
you can make a profit on any particular gun that you sell, you just can't buy and sell enough so that it replaces your current income as your source of money, then they consider that a business, there is no law as to how many you sell or how much profit you can make as long as you are not in the business of trading in firearms without the proper ffl01 license

Who are THEY?
BATF = They
Oh, okay. Got ya. :cool2:
I thought you could sell only to upgrade your collection. Like sell one or 2 at a profit with intent to purchase a better or more valuable firearm..

Or you have to sell at your cost and not turn a profit.. It was how the ATF rep explained it to me. Profit is the key. You made money selling. To them thats income.

But he said if you turn in your book and license then you can sell them for whatever you want to..
That is the problem with these laws, there are no specifics only their interpretation and your interpretation. No definition of how many can be sold, how often they can be sold or how much profit is too much, this leaves the govt a lot of wiggle room for their interpretation.
