A good friend has sent me these emails in reference to a DUI charge against
a Decorated Veteran of the USMC, who never even started his car, it was
parked on the street close to his house... :(

    More:
Hate to see a Vet get railroaded, this has political undertones as well,
which can be found out easily by doing a Goog-iots Image Search of
Zelalem Bogale, first pic makes the connection.
Buddy Morton did not want to focus on the politics, but I think
it may shed some light on the situation. Take it for what it's worth.

If you're drunk, in the drivers seat and the keys are in the ignition you can be charged with DUI. Vehicle running or not. Just the way it is.

I want to see a copy of the arrest report. Then I would like to kick the DA in the pee spot. If he was guilty of DUI fine happens all the time. The whinny little DA should not of messed with the boys pins.

Maybe he was actually seen driving, I highlighted the portion in the OP

Seems like an awfully rough sentence for a DUI, and they were
    seemingly prejudiced in court.

Thanks, Moonzy... I know that if my friend sends out something,
    it is important.

There seems to be more to the story then is being told. The statement that the ADA "knows the victim" indicates that this involves more then a DUI. There are always 3 sides to every story, 1 from the victim, 1 from the defendant and then the truth. ;)

Edit: just as I thought, there is a lot more to this then just a simple DUI. He was under the influence of marijuana and alcohol, comitted a hit and run with bodily injury, and left the scene.

A simple DUI would be the lesser of what he is convicted of based on that link.
That same set of circumstances and charges happen all to often. In Iowa, he would
be charged the same. And yes, some prison time would happen. He is real darned lucky he did not kill that man.

    Thanks Flash.
Still hate to see a veteran get into trouble, either way :(
Hopefully the DA will not go too harshly on him, beyond
    normal sentencing practice.

That is why the report was wanted. So no letter. Off to jail.

I guess that is why Buddy R. Morton changed tone in the 3rd email,
the second one, that I did not post, said perhaps we should not make
an issue of the fact the Assistant DA is "buds" with Obama. They had
a pic together, not necessarily buds I guess
It's immaterial, if the guy is actually guilty. I still don't like the
notion that they disrespected the Corps in court like that.
Here's the pic, but like I said, really has no bearing on this, unless
he shares Obama's disdain for the US Military...

Right now I would have grave doubts that the part about disrespect of the Marines was the truth either in this case.
