I kind of half-heartedly disagree?
You need to be accurate, your firearm needs to be consistent. As long as you know the slop is there, you can compensate for it. I want to say somebody shimmed their trigger? It would have been a thread from 8-9 years ago, and I have no idea where it would be.
Now, having said that. I put a Volquartsen trigger in a 10/22 that eventually became my rifle and I love not having any side to side slop because it's so much less work than stock or the BX. Doesn't make the rifle anymore accurate, but it definitely makes the trigger pull much more consistent.
