Yeah, 3D printing is interesting....I am really intrigued by 3D printing.

Work in progress. Actually, I redesigned it after I printed this one.Whoa! Be still my heart!

I'm impressed. The Raven is a perfect candidate for 3D printing IMO.Work in progress.
The real issue is the half-round barrel profile and reusing the slide. I have some ideas on that, but it's not as straight forward as some other 3D printed pistol frames. The Raven uses a flat bottom barrel to remove the need for a recoil spring guide, etc, and that profile is unfortunately translated to the slide front. If you use a round barrel profile then you need to reengineer the front end of the pistol to keep the recoil spring from kinking, binding, etc.I'm impressed. The Raven is a perfect candidate for 3D printing IMO.
Yeah, I was wondering how you would handle that. I don't think the 3D printed barrel -drilled out for a barrel- could take the stress. When Cobra made the Denali, the barrel was configured much like a Hi-Point barrel with it set into a block of Zamak. Cobra realized a polymer frame couldn't hold the pressure of a barrel pressed into the frame. The real issue is the half-round barrel profile and reusing the slide.
I got my hands on some incomplete parts kits that included the barrels. I'm going to redesign my 3D printed Raven frames to utilize these parts... maybe modify the design of the safety too, since no version of the Raven has a decent safety. I'll start a new thread, once I've made some progress.

Nope, personal and professional life took a massive dump, so I'm treading water with those things and my adventures in individual liberty have taken a back seat... also I really don't have a good work area anymore.Any news on this?

Sounds like a great project, I'd love to see u get back on track! @adam01364 says Raven is a good design, it would be cool if you could make a platform for the durable parts and also upgrade the frames at the same time...Nope, personal and professional life took a massive dump, so I'm treading water with those things and my adventures in individual liberty have taken a back seat... also I really don't have a good work area anymore.
Things have settled down a bit and progress has been made on the 3D printed Raven (official name pending). I think next week I'll settle down and just put up a new thread to catch up where I'm at with this.Sounds like a great project, I'd love to see u get back on track! @adam01364 says Raven is a good design, it would be cool if you could make a platform for the durable parts and also upgrade the frames at the same time...
