Im pretty much a gun enthuisiest. Been itching for a carbine like my old mini14 M1 I owned a H.P. 380 pistol eons ago and hated the look and due to a national shortage of ammo, never got to shoot it. I read reviews on the 45 carbine from H.P. and saw several youtubes on it. Then saw the Hickcock vid " sorry if mispelled. After that i ordered it today. My first order of business is to fabricate a large cap magazine for it possibly revamp the mag slot to accomidate a wider mag design. Not sure it exists yet... but im going to make a 40 hipoint cartridge.. 45 necked down to a 40. This will improve cambering issues. And going to manu. A better ejection system other than a firing pin ejection. Since the most important thing is to go bang.. Im just going to add an ejector tab, add a recess to permit new ejector tab to do its job before the pin does.
This part of SE Oregon? I lived in Lakeview for a while. Not sure what chambering issues there are with the .45?
:welcome:31U_Airborne! Good Luck with your mods. I have wondered about a separate ejector also, maybe something along the lines of a shotgun system? Remington has one that is pinned to the back (left) wall of the receiver...
Oh, I believe your "40 in a 45 case" has been done, called a 40 Super... Or maybe a 40 Cor-Bon but it's been done. You would just need to ream the 40 S&W chamber out to 45 ACP specs, stopping at the proper depth, obviously. Putting a ton more power through a Hi Point Carbine is maybe not the best idea, we have a member (AOOA) who ruined a 995 bolt with 500 rounds of NATO 9mm, but MoM fixed it under warranty.
Except it has been demonstrated that NATO 9 mm ISN'T that hot, and so the problem was probably just a bad bolt, and not the ammo.
Thanks for the welcome guys.. I currently live in medford, my hunting property is near Beatty.. Dang.. always wondered about the CorBon rd.
Score! 1st and 2nd grade in Lakeview, 3rd and 4th in Eagle Point, 5th and 6th grade at Jackson Elementary in Medford, then 9-12 in Klamath Falls. Still have family all over there, including a cousin in Bly. I've got blackberries in my freezer from summer 2014 in Ashland. Medford was too danged hot, but I sure miss good peaches.
