Palmetto State Armory is introducing their Battlefield Line in 2023. The first entry will be the StG44. It will be available in 7.92 Kürz, 7.62x39, 300 BLK, and 5.56x39. From the video it appears that caliber swaps will be easily doable and that the mag well has been redesigned to accept STANAG magazines.

This is the same rifle that HMG tried to get off the ground several years ago, but the release was plagued by production problems that resulted in a lawsuit against the machine shop. If I understand correctly PSA will be partnering with Hill and Mac to produce this series. Not sure, but I believe that Hill and Mac must be HMG.

The video states that those who pre-ordered the original version that never happened will get theirs at the original price, which if memory serves was around $1700. New orders will be higher.

Anyways, I will take mine in 300 BLK as 7.92x33 is not readily available and 7.62x35 seems to be the closest alternative. Unless of course I can make the old German cartridge out of 308 / 30-06 brass. I will need to check it out. (Actually I will not be buying on if the price is what I expect. If I am correct in my $1700 original price, the PSA version will likely be $2000. I would rather invest in a Ruger Precision Rifle in 308 Winchester.)

Well what do you know. Privi Partizan makes 7.92 Kürz. I just found it for a buck a loaded round and $32 for 50 cases. Now I want to have my ACC H&R Handi Rifle in 300 BLK rebored and rechambered to 7.92x33! That would be a hoot!

I am on the waitlist...

Definitely adding it.

If you read about PSA and Shot Show 2023 this is part of their Battlefild Series.

Quote from them at ShotShow:

Battlefield Series: A new brand from Palmetto State Armory that will recreate nearly every WWII era weapon.[SHOT 2023] Palmetto State Armory - Battlefield Series StG 44

I am going to have to replenish my disposable funds again, I thought I was getting close to that light at the end of the tunnel!!!

I hope it comes to market & is successful, but I think it's a very small market they're building for. The idea that they're going to recreate nearly every combat small arm of the 2nd WW I view as fanciful. C&Rsenal have 177 videos in the their Primer series, nearly all 1st WW small arms. The # of series production small arms types used by combatant powers in the 2nd WW is likely in the several hundreds - while I dearly love PSA, and am a dealer of their products, they've not managed to get their promised H&K style roller-lock in production, let alone several hundred 2nd WW type bolt-actions, pistols, and semi-auto copies of submachine guns & rifles.

They’re not doing them “all”. They’re doing the video game guns..

The StG44, an SVT 40 (which were available and cheap in Canada for decades) and maybe an RPK or PPSh to go with their AK, a semi auto Sten or a Bren, (or both), maybe an M1 carbine, or something crazy like a Johnson? They could go nuts and do an Italian Model 38 or a Japanese Type 100. Those are my guesses.

You know…stuff the kids recognize.😉

The magazines look huge. They say they will configure them to also use standard thirty round AR-15 magazines for .300 Blackout. I am not a fan of large magazines. They make prone shooting difficult.

Prone isn’t generally how one uses an “assault rifle”. Long mags don’t seem to bother the folks that shoot AK’s and M4’s

It's the original assault rifle that only came w/ 30 round mags in 7.92x33mm. If your choice is a StG44 or a Kar98k, and you're up against Soviet troops with Mosins and a crap load of submachineguns, which are you going to pick? The world's first assault rifle or a shortened version of the rifle your father carried in the 1st WW?

If it takes 30 round AR mags, then it will take practically any AR mag of any size, including the itty bitty 3 round one.

Ever seen the thirty-five round AR-15 Torkmag brand magazines? They are almost the same size as a normal thirty AR-15 magazines.

I had not, only thing I had remembered them for was their Glock mag adapter that you had to cut the mags to make them work. Not terrible, not ideal. I had seen this spring arrangement elsewhere at some point, glad to see them giving it a shot. Should probably get one of their 50 rounders for my brother w/ .458 SOCOM.

I am wanting to move to all Lancers & ETS mags at home, to spot any errant .300 Blackout rounds that might sneak in, not that I allow that caliber in the house. Have 4x complete loadouts of Unimags for 7.62x39mm, and a complete loadout of Ramline universal mags if I ever come up w/ a Mini-14.

Those 40 round Tork Mags would look at home on the StG, they're about the right length.

I wish Schmeisser would come up w/ a 40-45 ish round coffin mag, the 60 is just a little too long.

Not to mention...at $40, I can just attach two $7 metal mags together and be $26 ahead, on each one.
I HAVE a 60 rounder....they are really decent, work great, but the cost is silly, and as you say, a little too long for most everything; won't fit in mag carriers or pockets.

I put mine in the bag with the truck gun, it's laying at the bottom, and gets put in the gun first.

I have kind of lost my desire for Pmags, I have fewer issues with Amend 2 or the inexpensive metal mags.

The 300 BO mags get a yellow rubber band thing put on them that labels them as 300 BO, and the guns have an orange cord on them to mark them as well.
