Suggestions on electronic hearing protection

So as to not hijack another topic on hearing. I find it uncomfortable when another shooter comes in and is assigned to shoot in the next stall. Not complaining as I simply step out and put additional ear plugs in over my muffs and go back to doing my thing. Just wondering, do the electronic ear muffs really work that much better and does anyone have suggestions as to brand preference?

My kids got me the cheap set of the electronic Allen's from walmart and they work okay. I still use the lime green Peltor plugs under the electronic muffs when I'm alone.

Edit: I have very damaged hearing and have had my eardrums replaced so there's that.

I had a cool set of Bluetooth Peltors when I was the chauffeur with my old FD right before I retired. Those things were nice. I could hear the radio calls and my guys talking in the back but the siren and Federal Q were knocked down from a full scream to background noise.

What they do is let you hear normally, until there’s a loud sound, then they block that. With many versions, you can even turn them up and hear ridiculously well when they aren’t activated by loud sounds, which is good on a tree stand, or if you want to hear the guys in the stall 3 spaces down in between shots…🤣

If you want more hearing protection, but also want to be able to hear what’s going on, one way to do it is plugs under the electronic muffs. You can turn the muffs up so you can hear normal stuff, but when they shut down the sound, you still get the full double hearing pro.

But the guys that want the best get the in-ear electronics. It’s also easier to shoot rifles that way, as muffs sometimes get in the way.

I have to turn mine all the way up just to hear my buddy at the bench next to me acknowledge my call outs when I spot for him during sight in. Yet another awesome feature of that lovely gray scope I got. Beats using my awkward ass inline spotting scope on a table tripod.
