I'm working on an Uzi-esque version of a 995. Using some of the factory stock and will have a custom shroud, side folding stock and a stainless steel barrel shroud.

I hate the way the stock covers look though. They are one of the worst parts of the gun lol

Couldn't just 3d print a metal (aluminum) cover/shroud unit that would look sci-fi ish? Or even just roll some bead rolls on the sides of the shroud a la Uzi?

If I had a metal 3d printer than sure I could do that. But I don't, nor does anyone I know, so c channel it it. I'll do something to it and make it more detailed, this is just a few hours of work, still have a lot to do.

C-channel still looks a bit thick walled. If you've some sturdy wood and angle iron, you could have made a thinner, lighter shroud and used a steel rod and a routered groove in a 2x4, hammered the ribbing/grooves on the sheet steel to get the stiffness... using the steel panes from Lowes or Home Depot or True Value/Ace Hardware

It is thicker but it's actually very light. It weighs less than the factory cover. And it's strong enough that I can drill and tap it.

That's a good idea for the grooves though, I might do that for my next cover.
Some updated pictures. I'm almost done with this but am really stoked with how it's turning out.

how you supporting the barrel?
From what I remember the original shroud does not support or lend strength to the barrel that's pinned and mounted to the receiver that's supported by the bottom portion of the plastic stock/chassis that's been cut back. It's mounted the same way as a pistol; and the bolt is set up so that the recoil spring is underneath the front of the bolt?
Keltec vibes, but very cool.
You mean like this?

It doesn't real need supported, it's basically supported at the action and the very front of the stock.

The cover just used steel spacers with set screws to attach it to the barrel.
