The "Nuclear" Option

So now they will invoke the nuclear option. Meaning they will get the health care legislation passed by hook or crook using the tie breaker vote in the Senate.

So now at least you know they have no intention of representing you isn't it about time to start recalling some Senators if you are lucky enough to live in a state that would allow such action. Either way any one STILL buying into the crap BO was pushing in the election should get some end of life counciling.

Now now now Rhodes, you need to speak in itty bitty words for the left wing to understand.

I guess that "Hope and Change" ain't workin out so good for em.
Oh man, the nuclear option? no way. Thats just low. why, i remember when someone else threatened that a while ago....what was his name again? oh yeah Bill Frist.

With one post you damn making these things party related in the next you do exactly that.

So tell me what issue was it that had the clear will of the people so well known and obvious that that will was strongly against the legislation in question? I dont damn the tactic only the clear disregard held for we the people. my my

I thought you knew by now that i can be incredibly inconsistent.

well that wasn't clear to me....now it is.

I don't like the tactic, precisely because it is employed against the will of the people. we didn't elect these people to be bullies. we elected them to govern responsibly. the use of the tactic shows a breakdown of the process, in my opinion. Besides, this disagreement in the senate isn't anything that couldn't be settled with a good ol' fashioned beatdown... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Sumner#Antebellum_career_and_attack_by_Preston_Brooks

So by "clear will of the people so well known and obvious" you mean those who oppose it, not a true "will of the people" which would entail pretty much total unification of the people. This health care debate is not that clear cut, there are quite a few supporters and quite a few detractors, this does not equal clear will of the people.

As for this nuclear option, it was pure and utter batshit crazy bullshit when Cheney wanted it and those who present it as a viable option now should be held for treason, or at least censure.

When we start limiting debate in this country we might as well light the Constitution on fire and piss it out.
Well the tactic is simple majority rules even if that majority is claimed by use of the VPs vote. Remember Gore did this on the tax increase of 93 if memory serves, it was also very unpopular but nothing close to the current outrage. Lets hope results are similarly punished if this does occur.

It is possible they are only posturing but somehow I seriously doubt they can see past their own elitism to see how foolish this bill really is.

LS EVERY indicator is saying the same thing, we dont want this to occur. Like it or not it. Now ask then why did people vote for Obama....hell I have no idea the motive since this is exactly what he said he would do.

Yes, health care reform was a reason I pulled the lever for him. This "we" you speak of Rhodes, it does not include everyone, there are quite a few people who want it to happen, thus it can not be construed as a "clear will of the people."

Still yet, it needs to be discussed debated and picked apart line by line, not just forced through like the midnight appointments of the "good ol' days."

My local blue dogs here in WNC are really gaining some points in my opinion for helping to slow this thing down, hopefully this break will allow for cooler heads to return with better ideas.
I didnt say every one is against reform of the system. That is just false as even I would like to see tort and fraud reform. But they dont want a single payer or a soon to be single payer system(co-ops) as in Europe and Canada. That is not what BO promised although the informed knew well that is what would be pushed.

Co-ops are just so horrid it defies description as government appointees would by design be placed in control from the beginning. Now it could change eventually but when has the government ever given up power?

Sheesh you guys...

Any way when I was a kid they were still testing these things fairly regular in Nevada. There were even tours to see them since its pretty hard to cover something that big up. I never made it but my older cousin got to see a couple about the time they were transitioning from fission to fusion. That may explain the fallout shelter in my uncles back yard. Now that thing was cool and the best make out spot in the neighborhood until my uncle caught my cousin and the girl down the block in a less than dressed state. He went to Nam back in 70 came back in a box four months later. Miss that guy, we had a lot of good times. Any way he always said it was like seeing God on a really bad day, I believe he was close with that description.
My dad wandered around in New Mexico wearing his regular OD's and a radiation card clipped to his pocket picking up "bits" of leftovers so they could be properly analyzed and tested. That was his first 6 months of Air Force life.
I have the secretary desk he purchased while stationed there. It was the first piece of furniture he ever owned as a "grown up". He gave it to me when my oldest was born.

It still makes a wonderful night light. :D
