I recently heard a very favorable review of the Tisas Stingray. Got me curious. Looking around, it appears that most folks seem to like them. What's your experience?

Their commander / carry model might be a good donor for a 450SMC platform. ...maybe

Be careful here, the 460 Rowland website says that many cheaper 1911 slides are basically "cast steel" and not recommended for a 460 conversion.
Tisas says that their frames are hammer forged, for whatever that's worth.

But a 450SMC is roughly the equivalent of the 45super so maybe....
IMS, that was kinda the idea. 45 Super is trademarked so no one can chamber guns or make ammo for it without paying royalties. The 450SMC was supposed to be the exact same thing only without the licensing hassles. The literature says that the 450SMC platform must be a .45ACP +P capable gun and requires an upgrade to the recoil spring. I asked Tisas if they're +P rated and the answer I got was "not only 'yes', but we recommend +P for the break in."

Most RIA are on the Rowland no-go list, but all Citadel are good to go for the conversion. Citadel being the RIA upscale model.
RIA says their 45's are +P rated but it's buried in the literature and the general trend seems to be "OK for occasional use, but don't do it as a regular diet."

Nothing but good reviews on a Tisas, I'd grab one
It's on my list but I'll probably wait for a good while. I'm still spooling up handloading for the 5.7.
