Took the plunge - new C9

Sorry, cell phone pic

New C9, extra magazine, and box of ammo out the door for $145.97. Not bad if I do say so myself. I didn't notice until I was out of the store, but there was a $10 discount applied at the register so the C9 was only $119.99. :D

Initial impressions:

The handgun isn't as heavy as I thought it would be, but the weight is certainly distributed differently than it is on my other handguns, all in the top for obvious reasons. I don't think this is a bad thing. Magazines lock up solidly and eject smartly. I like the sights that came on the gun, the ghost ring is a nice touch, but it doesn't seem very useful to me. Safety is the same as on my 995, nice and easy to operate with the thumb and I like the addition of the magazine safety feature. The trigger isn't bad either, different from my other handguns, but not bad... and certainly better than the trigger on my Cz 52. Overall the C9s appearance is pleasing, nothing "cheap" looking to me.

My issues are in the grip. My hand seems a little big for the weapon and the grip is a touch slick for my tastes. Time for a grip sleeve I guess. I've also noticed that my thumb wants to rest on the magazine release with my usual shooting grip, not sure if this will be an issue under recoil when firing.

Overall, 9 out of 10. :D

Weather permitting I'm going to put some rounds through it tomorrow and get a range report put together.

Congrats! Nice deal. Back in Pennsy, C9's are scarce.

I also have big hands. I got the 10 round C9 mags ($18 inc'd shipping) from Hi-pointfirearms.net. These have an extension on the magazine. This makes a better rest for my pinkie.

I also put on a Hogue Universal grip, trimmed a little at the top back. The trimming makes the bottom of the grip even with the bottom of the pistol. Overall I am pleased with the fit and finish of the C9.

Enjoy your shooting!
+1 to wanting a grip; I used the Handall Jr, no trimming needed.
Great deal you got man!i cant wait to get another c9.speaking of the grip sleeve,
is there one that will fit the 40 in the mean time?
Congrats on the new C-9, and what I'd say was an awesome deal. My C-9 took about 200 rounds to break in, but afterward it became super smooth.

sean, I've never tried it, but I'd be willing to bet the Handall would fit the .40. It fits just about everything.
congrats bro you wont be disapointed
thats a very good price for some ammo and an extra mag also. congrats and I'm sure you'll love it.
Added a range report. :D
Nice looking C9 and a good price too. I'm sure you'll be happy. If it gives you any trouble, send it in and they'll fix you up.
Don't see the range report...am I blind? :cool2:
great deal there .. I hope I can find a similar deal in the .40s&w .
good price! my thumb rests on the mag release as well, but no problems while shooting. the stock grips are definitely slippery. some rubber grips of whatever fashion (bicycle innertube or Hague) will help a lot. the Hague is superior to the innertube, IMO, and probably worth the ~$10 price.
just bought my new c-9 today. all my gun snob friends think i got ripped off. id say buying a brand new 9mm, with an additional 10 round clip for 188 bucks isnt too bad. Had to drive 2 hours to get it though :( anyways, been reading posts on the forum for a while, and now that i bought a c9, thought id join in on the discussion. looking forward to showing my gun snob buddies that THEY got ripped for paying so much.

good job, be sure to rubb it in their face..and of course :welcome:
I actually find myself taking the C9 out shooting more than any of my other handguns. I like not feeling like I have to detail clean a gun after EVERY range session.
Congrats man!

Mine cost about $169 so, yes you got a good deal. ^-^
